Investments - who with?
Hi Have roughly figured what I am going to invest in (passive mixed assets in pension and ISAs) but who with? Have looked at Fidelity, vanguard but who else out there would you recommend I look up. I prefer internet based so I check on monthly payments in and how the fund is doing etc. Its hard to gauge a company just on…

Child Trust Fund
Hi Guys, My daughter (age 11) was given some money by a relative. For now I have put it into her Child Trust Fund but as the fund now has nearly £8K in it I am reviewing whether this is the best place for it or not. I'm not a particularly sophisticated investor so I'd be interested in some king of tracker fund. At the…

Charles Stanley ISA debit card payments very slow
Using faster payments from my bank to kick start my ISA, it seems there is quit a delay in reaching the account. Has anyone used the alternative on their website called sage pay? Do you use debit card payments from your bank? I am just interested to see if this is the norm.

Where to move £41K to?
Hello I hope someone can give me a little guidance. I'll try to be brief. I usually take control of our household finances, but due to illness have let this slide. My husband is taking Voluntary Redundancy, today's his last day and he's received £41k compensation. It's currently sitting in a Halifax Reward account…

Bank wrongly reinvests savings
Hello, I wonder if anybody could help? My son inherited some money from his grandfather and I helped him put it into a Yorkshire Bank 5 year fixed interest savings account. Close to the due date we set up an ISA account (for his 2014/15 ISA allowance) and another short fixed term saving account. My son filled in the form…

Which bank is going to the public??
Having kicked myself for not buying the RM shares I want to buy shares in future privatisation deals. I vaugely rmember hearing on the radio that some bank is being forced to sell part of its operations as it's too big and the company will be sold to the public with a maximum cap to each person. Share prices on sale are…

VCT advice
Can I benefit from VCTs as an expat? I haven't been tax resident in the UK for some time but I do still do an SA tax return for HMRC for BTL rental income. I think VCTs have some good tax breaks but I probably don't qualify for them. But are there any advantages that I may still get by having VCTs as part of a diversified…

Tax Credit and Income Tax on Divis..
Am I right in thinking that a slightly bizarre system is in place... For a basic rate Income tax payer you get a 10% tax credit automatically added to your gross dividend income, you then get charged 10% Income tax on that gross? i.e if my consolidated tax certificate shows... gross divi income - £220 net divi income -…

Fidelity Investment Trust
Apologies if this has already been asked but I couldn't find anything through a search. I have a bit of money to invest (£1,500) which ideally I would like medium risk on and as this amount is too small to buy shares with I thought an investment fund would be an option. I am specifically looking at Fidelity's Special…

High Interest
I have a large sum of money I need to move into a different account as it will be my deposit for a house. What's the best place to put it and it earn interest. I would be looking at it being in an account 6 to 12 months untouched.

What is the process/cost for selling shares?
Hi there, I inherited some money during my childhood which a family member invested in shares for me. These shares now have a value of approximately £19k (checked today via the online platform through which the investment is managed) 20 years since they were purchased. The family member who invested these for me was a…

Child Trust Fund problem
My daughter has a Child Trust Fund (CTF) that is currently worth just under £2000. She has autism. I am certain she won't be able to claim the money herself when she's 18, let alone make any decisions about how to spend the money. My CTF provider makes it crystal clear that only my daughter will be able to access the money…

Really bad at saving
Hey. I've not long turned 21 and have been a postman for 2 and a bit years and still stay at home. For my age my wages are pretty good but I really struggle to save money. Its not that I spend too much (although still more than I need) but when I look into my RBS banking app and I see that my ISA has some money, I get the…

Q for Lloyds Bank Rep and any MSE members that opened a new Club Lloyds Monthly Saver
I know some others, like myself, recently came to the end of their first 12 months of a Club Lloyds Monthly Saver. This was then converted to an Easy Saver. Like me, many then also opened a new 12 months Club Lloyds Monthly Saver. Today, I happened to notice on the new Club Lloyds Monthly Saver (opened earlier this month),…

Tax on offshore fund (self-assessment)
Hi, First time I've held an offshore fund outside of a tax wrapper - it's the JOHCM Japan Hedged GBP fund. The consolidated tax certificate from iWeb shows a 'gross amount of chargeable payment' of c£100, witholding tax paid as £0, and thus 'net interest paid' also as c£100. As the fund is Ireland-domiciled then this looks…
