S+S ISA for a newbie
I've got a cash ISA, but I keep reading about S+S ISA's. I'm in full time employment, with little time on my hands. I've got £1000 to put into a S+S ISA and will want to add maybe £50 a month, at the same time I will be adding to the cash ISA too. I do not have any plans for the S+S Isa, only to let it grow. If I need to…

Where shall I put this money?
Hey - i'm hoping for some advice on where I should put £7,000 - £9,000 that I currently have in my current account. - ISA - have such low rates (best is 1.5%) that seems like a silly option - Pay off Student Loan, also have low interest rates so not a bad debt to have, but do have to contribute almost £300 a month out of…

Saving for retirement
very soon I'll be lucky enough not to have a mortgage and want to save £500 approx per month towards retirement. I won't have any debt, but I haven't any savings so I know I should save initially for that rainy day. I do have a Final salary pension, and will have approx 26/80 of final pay at 60. Global index trackers
Hi everyone, I've been investing in the Fidelity Index World tracker (A class) via III for the last 6 months. I initially tried to invest in the I class which has a low TER of 0.15%. But, after lots of delay and unhelpfulness (and despite initially claiming twice that I could invest in the I class), III eventually told me…

Which fund would you choose?
I can't decide which of two funds to buy based on the research I've done, so all I have left to help me decide between them is past performance. They are both similar funds in the same sector (I won't say which sector/funds just yet since I don't want to bias any replies I get), but I think fund A seems to be the better…

Cgt jisa ctf
Is CGT always payable should any Investment gain exceed the annual allowance, or can an investment be held for a long time whereby no CGT is payable. Has JISA replaced CTF, if a CTF was opened a few years ago, can funds be added after April 2015 or would it need to be invested into a JISA as the alternative?

Help with parents, and your thoughts?
My 55 year old mother has just phoned me reference a advert in the Times from Devon Hills. They are advertising a guarenteed return of 8% for two years on a holiday home to the Value of £89995. My initial thoughts were what happens after 2 years. On speaking to the park, they have said that they often make more than this,…

Income from holiday cottage.
I sold my house recently and am renting for a while. Meanwhile I wondered about putting my capital to use by investing in a holiday cottage. Has anyone done this? What are the pitfalls? How much do management companies or agents charge(if you use one). And can you set the cost of these against tax?

share price on takeover
On Friday it was announced that Nikon was putting in a cash offer to buy Optos at 340p and the share price promptly jumped to about 341.5p. Why would they go to over the offer? Are Nikon allowed to buy up shares so they can vote on the takeover themselves? Or are people betting on the 340p offer being refused? I will be…
