Income from holiday cottage.

Options
I sold my house recently and am renting for a while. Meanwhile I wondered about putting my capital to use by investing in a holiday cottage. Has anyone done this? What are the pitfalls?
How much do management companies or agents charge(if you use one). And can you set the cost of these against tax?

Distance from the cottage is a big thing. Relying on agents is fraught with problems and eats into the profit. Separate bank account .All normal expenses, including some travel can be offset. Not sure if you can allow the capital cost of your vehicle this way. Years since I did it so maybe out of date.
