Tax question 3 year pensioner bonds
The 3 year bonds paying 4% seem a pretty good deal and I'm recommending them to my Mum. It is good that you can draw money out early - even thought there is loss of 90 day's interest. This got me wondering - what is the tax position on this penalty? Can you count the penalty as a loss to offset it against tax due on any…

novice investing £1000
I have 1000 that I want to put away in my stocks and shares wrapper. Something cheap and simple and low maintenance I am thinking 10-20 years...I guess I could generate 10-20% yield in this time potentially? Would a tracker be best and safest best? What tracker and platform? I want to put 1000 away and not worry about it…

Funds Return/Performance
Thanks to those of you who helped me yesterday understanding the concept of time :D with funds... Another day another question! What's the return or performance you're expecting from your portfolio? I understand there's no exact formula and not every year is alike and so on, so maybe just a ball park value. What's the…

I hope someone could help me please. I've had some shares gifted to me. They were in a share save scheme and were 61p but are worth £4+ now. For CGT purposes is the value at 61p or the value when transferred and gifted? Thank you, I'm sure one you well informed MSEers will be able to help. I have so much faith in you all.

We will need to use the money…

ISA Allowance
Anybody help? I opened a Stocks and Shares ISA last April. Paid £10000 into the Isa. When the paperwork arrived £9700 had been credited to the Isa. £300 was deducted for the fee to an IFA which was what I expected to pay. My question is. Does this leave me with £5000 or £5300 available to invest in a cash Isa before end of…

Prudential Investment Bond
Hello, This is my first post, and would be grateful for your advice. Will you recommend buying pensioner bonds?
Public (above 65) seems to be investing loads of money into pensioner bonds. But does it make sense to invest into investments which locks my money for 3 years and also are not inflation protected.

Prudential SHP Fees
My work SHP is with Prudential - Fees for core holdings are listed as 0.40%. There is no other mention of fees in the documentation - I've tried calling up to ask but was told 0.40% is the only fee...I'm skeptical. Is anyone able to advise if there are other fees such as: - Platform fee - Dealing fees - Fund initial…

Current Accounts for Savings - Excess Money over Max Amount for Interest
Hi all, Following on from querying what t do with my ISA, I am seriously considering removing it all to put into high interest current accounts. Unit Trust Charges
I hold M&G Recovery units (Class A) direct with M&G. The AMC is 1.65%. Hargreaves offer M&G Recovery (Class I) with an AMC of 0.8% plus the platform fee - which would total appreciably less than 1.65%. Moving the holding to H-L would seem to be a no-brainer. Am I missing something? Are there any mandatory changes to the…
