Advice for £100K easy access required.
Hi all, What would be a good option for £100K by way of some return, while keeping easy access to it. Not going to need any of this cash until perhaps late summer early autumn at the earliest, but will then want to use a chunk of it as part of mortgage deposit. Any opinions welcome

Countersigning of a small estates share form
You wouldn't believe the palaver to get this signed. Basically my Barclays branch want to see my Dads will, death certificate, share certificates and a £10 fee to send it all off to Glasgow. i only took it in there as compushare want to charge me £40 (+£48 admin!) and on the form there is an option for your bank to sign it…

Lesser of two evils?
ISA rates are rubbish but I'd like to try and get a little bit more than the 0.75% I'm getting now. Am I right in thinking the Post Office are not fully covered under the scheme that repays you if a banking institution goes under? The Bank of Ireland connection worries me. Not that comfortable with Santander but I assume…

Rejected by FOS, so can I take them to court?
I helped a friend reclaim lost investment income from Barclays via the FOS following bad investment advise. Because the amount refunded was still less than half of that from an ordinary savings account over the 5yr period, we started a separate FOS case against Aviva. This was, after almost 2 years rejected by the FOS. Can…

S&S ISA - Investment Safety/Risks
I wanted to understand more about the security/safety/risks of investments held within a S&S ISA (no cash). Having used my ISA allowance each year and now having to think about which financial institution I should place my pension pot (SIPP) in a year’s time. I am concerned that putting all of my eggs in one basket may be…

M&S turned me down!
As my Nationwide savings interest was hitting the floor, I decided to give the M&S account a try - 6% interest on savings for a year. I went online to open a current account and was told it would take 48hours, I then received another automated email to say it would now take another 70+ hours for them to make a decision.…

Cheapest Trackers on Different Platforms
Thanks to the heads up on the iWeb charges I'm moving my ISA to them. I've got a lot of tracker funds and before I move I want to make sureI have the cheapest trackers for each region. I'm currently using HSBC as they were cheapest on pre-RDR pricing but that's no longer the case. To complicate things further different…

Platform/Fund costs
Hi I am looking, for the first time, at having a S&S ISA with a regular monthly payment and, perhaps, some lump sum deposits. I have been considering using HL as a work colleague uses them but their 0.45% ISA fee seems quite steep compared with Cavendish Online at 0.25%. However, I am vaguely aware that this is not the…

Fund diversity
Hi All, I posted a few days back looking for some advice for a first time investor, which resulted in some very helpful input (and has led to a couple of meetings set up with accountants etc my side). In the meantime I have been looking at diversity within the funds I wish to invest in, I am looking at circa £30k p/annum…

When are Capital Gains realised?
Hi, I'm planning on using up my CGT allowance by selling Vanguard 80% LS and buying 100% with the proceeds. Just to confirm, my capital gain is effective once I sell my 80% holdings and the money arrives in my trading account right? I don't have to actually withdraw the money from the trading account (iii) and into my bank…

Technical Analysis Websites
I was just wondering on what people thought was the best website to gain technical analysis information about listed companies. Current (most recent report) and historical (going back at least 5 years) data for the following measures: Price Post Tax Profit Earnings per share PE Ratio Dividend Yield Dividend Cover NTAV…

Dipping a toe - where do I start?
I have 10K left over from my redundancy money that now I'm employed again, I'd like to put to good use. I am nearly mortgage free and have a good emergency cash fund built up. Pensions aren't great as I didn't join one till I was 30 - now 50 and are a mixture of one final salary one and a couple of smaller defined…

Temporary investment of £20k
Hi everyone, I just got a really quick question please! Basically my mum is helping me with a deposit on my first time purchase and has just given me a cheque for £20k. I am going to cash it into my Natwest e-isa but I doubt it has a very high rate of interest at all although to be fair I don't know what it is. My question…

Standard Life Share price increase?
I hold S/L shares. I am aware there was a general share holder meeting on Friday, and I am wondering why the share price today has increased - over 468p today, which I think is the highest it has ever been. Why such a rise? Is this related solely to the imminent dividend and 73p per share "windfall", or due to something…

IFA Recommendations
I've just tried to contact my IFA (admittedly for the first time in a couple of years....) and discovered they have moved offices to a town 30 miles away! ....and without letting me know...... One of the reasons for choosing them was convenience for meetings etc.... I'm looking for recommendations for an IFA in the…

S&S ISA / SIPP Contributions
Bear with me on this one, I'm trying to get creative! As my employer hasn't reached it's staging date for pensions yet I've been saving this tax year into my S&S ISA and first direct RS & TSB Classic Plus current accounts. Both my S&S ISA & SIPP are with HL, I'm a higher rate taxpayer since starting with this employer in…

General election and investment timing...
I've just transferred two pension pots (total around £50,000) into an HL SIPP. For the moment they are going into the cash fund but they will probably mainly end up in something like the L&G Multi-Index 4 Fund. I know the old saying that you can't time the market but I must admit my inclination is to hang on before I…

First of these is approaching 1st year anniversary, and according to the T&C the balance from the year's deposits moves to a 'Young Savers a/c' - and the Kids Regular A/c can continue.
