Technical Analysis Websites

Options
I was just wondering on what people thought was the best website to gain technical analysis information about listed companies.

Current (most recent report) and historical (going back at least 5 years) data for the following measures:

Price
Post Tax Profit
Earnings per share
PE Ratio
Dividend Yield
Dividend Cover
NTAV (absolute and per share)
Price to book ratio
Capital gearing
etc

Currently I use lse.co.uk however it has some weaknesses as it reports price/market capitalisation in £ and all economic data in $ which is a bit frustrating when creating ratios (especially historically)

Any suggestions?

  • The currency thing is a common problem I think. Many companies report in dollars as that is the worlds reserve currency and of course oil is sold in dollar so BP for example reports in dollar as well being a major USA company anyhow. BP is quoted in usa if that helps

Im not sure which website is best or most accurate exactly. There is iii and digital look as well. Morningstar produce reports and give data and various services to track performance

TA video I was just watching, it usually involves more graphs and projections based on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXRFqIm7dGs&feature=youtu.be

Just re terminology - usually when stockpicking there is a distinction between 'technical analysis' vs 'fundamentals analysis' for a given share.

As sabre mentioned, TA is generally involving looking at charted data (simple moving averages, bollinger bands, the shapes formed by price movements over time and so on) and using probability / stochastic analysis to determine where they are going next and whether you should buy sell. Whereas what you are doing in examining the fundamentals of a company (P&L, cashflow, balance sheet, p/e ratio etc) to consider its actual financial strength and what it should perhaps be worth, is the opposite.

I sometimes use advfn for a quick snapshot (e.g. here's BP: http://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=L^BP.)of last few years' financials and div history plus various ratios.

However, I prefer to just pull the accounts and work out the ratios myself, as what I might want to include in the bottom line earnings or ebitda etc may not be exactly the same from one company to the next depending on exceptional items, acquisitions or disposals or dilutions etc etc.

ADVFN - Financials should give you what you are looking for. They usually convert USD company values OK but often don't handle the lesser currencies so well so double check with Hargreaves-Lansdowne's site.

You'll have as much luck with the Astrology pages in your local newspaper as you will with TA. As b99 says, terminology means your question is more about FA than TA.
