So confused, help?
Hi folks, Allow me to explain the current situation, I have had an account which my wages get paid into which I have had since before 18, easy access hole in the wall kind of thing with no online paying or direct debit ability etc. I also have a flex-account with nationwide which does allow this but is only used when funds…

Could someone work out a sum for me x
Person A agrees to pay person B £1000 PCM, from June 2004. They also agree to increase this in line with inflation (or maybe decrease ...) I presume year on year. Person A does not increase or reduce this amount in line with inflation, but pays £1000 each month only. How much does person A owe person B, if any?

vanguard 40 vs 100
Hi Question: seeing lots of negative stuff about bonds and the risk that if interest rates rise in next few years bond funds will drop in price. Prior to this negativity towards bonds i understood that a fund more heavily weighted to bonds was a 'lower risk' option : eg vls40 is intrinsically a less risky fund than vls100…

Time to sort out my investments
Hello, For years I have been drip-feeding a S&S ISA with Fidelity, starting with just £50 a month over 10 years ago, taking a break for 4 years due to house expenses, and upping contributions when I could. Outcome is that I now have just under £13K in various funds, which is great! Not so good is the fact that I have just…

Your thoughts please
I'm in my early 30s, unmarried and work in London. I'm just about to buy a 2-bed property with a view to renting out a room for extra income to cover the mortgage, so I'm left with my wage to spend or invest. I currently have 100k in my bank that I don't really know what to do with. I would like to open up a Santander 3%…

'safe(r)' funds - short/med term
Hi Anyone have any recommendations regards some funds which (while obviously coming with some risk) are perhaps safer bets for modest growth above the cash deposit type savings? Im thinking of funds perhaps suitable for a 3-5 year horizon / for a jisa. Ive read a bit about absolute return funds but feedback is not…

The "Save 12k in 2015' Thread!
So, the title is pretty self explanatory, but this is the place to be in 2015 :D In 2015, the aim is to save £12k (or, any other amount if you like!) from 1st January 2015 til 31st December 2015. I know it's early, but it gives you the time to plan for how you are going to do it! 2012…

Can I open 2 cash ISAs?
Folks, I hope the thread title attracts someone knowledgeable... I couldn't even get the answer from the HMRC using the number given as the ISA experts?... Anyway, the situation is as follows, and I'm just after a yes or no as to whether or not it's allowed by the tax rules. (I realise that the individual banks will also…

active vs passive?
So following on from some of the advice you lovely people imparted, I began to read the monevator site in a lot more detail. I came across the passive investing part and found it really fascinating. I then looked at the lazy portfolios, I like the idea of only have a few things invested in as I plan to use high interest…

Oh. Halifax 8% interest children's ISA - did I misunderstand?
I had been meaning to save some money for my son (when my husband was made redundant he had to use our son's savings which I felt really bad about). My son was 6 months from turning 18 so I decided to put a slightly larger amount than I was financially comfortable with in the Halifax 8% interest children's ISA to maximize…

Half way there but mentally drained!
Right after dealing with quite a few personal issues last year I got my act together and started building an emergency fund. I read into it and decided 6 months of expenses is a sensible figure. This equates to £7000. I feel having an emergency fund is especially important because I have a mortgage and being single means…
