How would they know if I had 2 x ISA in a year?
How would it be picked up if I had 2 existing S&S ISA's, and put in more than the max allowance between the 2 in one year? Say I put in £8k in one, and £9k into the other, how would it be picked up? I'm not wanting to break any laws, just genuinely interested? :D

It has suddenly dawned on me that perhaps I should start saving for my retirement. I've never been the quickest out of the blocks at the best of times and I know this is…

Cashing in a With-Profits Policy with Life Cover
Hi, Back in 1998 I took out a with-profits policy for £5k with Scottish Widows. The investment was done after the birth of our new born with a view to have a saving plan which upon maturity would pay anything above £5k (the initial investment). The policy has life cover built into it. Its been running since and I had it…

REITS- tax position
I am considering British Land. However I don't quite understand the tax position. Is the dividend on a REIT paid gross and then needs to be declared on a tax return? I don't tend to put shares into my ISA because am a lower rate tax payer and just do not envisage a capital gains tax problem, so why pay HL .5% to manage…

Sold a fund - settlement T+4 - when will I get the cash?
I sold units in a UCITS fund for which the dealing day was on Monday this week. The fund settlement period is T+4 so I'm expecting the money today. Does anyone know how early/late it should come in? Does that mean that the fund company will do a same-day transfer today so it's not likely to be until this afternoon? Just…

Invest or Overpay Remortgage
Long preamble - short question !! At a bit of a loss as to which board to post this, could have been DFW, MFW, or this one. I figured the investment board would be best. I was on a 10 year fixed rate 4.99% from 2009 (on a 15 year mortgage) - I needed a fix as money was tight, and I forecast long term raised…
