Tesco savings....why has this happened ?

so I had a long standing modest and fully cleared balance in Tesco online savings account (lets say £100).

I transferred in via direct debit a larger sum (lets say £5000) a few days ago.

my new available balance has now dropped down from the cleared £100 down to £0.

the poor call centre chap couldn't explain but has logged a complaint. Tesco apparently put some sort of hold on your existing cleared balance while the incoming DD funds clear. I can totally understand the £5000 being unavailable but surely the cleared balance should be available.

Bonkers !

seriously, if money starts disappearing from online bank accounts with no supporting transactions then it really undermines your faith in the integrity of their banking systems

a manager is going to give me a call back...
