Frustration on Trustnet
I have spent a frustrating hour trying to register a holding in Vanguard ETF VUSA in Trustnet Portfolios. You add a holding by selecting from a drop-down list but I cannot find the VUSA ETF anywhere, only the USD version which obviously reports prices in $. I have tried all ways to get the correct fund listed but to no…

Are markets overheating & correction imminent? Views & investment advice sought plse
Hi All, I am an ‘amateur’ investor who through reading articles, listening to useful advice and some good fortune has managed to build up a reasonable investment portfolio, for just an ordinary guy. About 3 years ago I posted here when I was looking to review what funds I held and wanted to try and regain some of the…

Could I get some feedback on Mut. Funds??
Hey everyone, First time posting here. I am 22 years old. Recently graduated and just landed my first job. Been working for about 2 months, and I have a decent handle on my budget now. I want to get a quick jump on investing, because the earlier I set these habits, the easier it will be imo. I have about $120 to invest on…

Should I Buy Bonds
Hello everyone, I would be grateful for your views on whether to buy bonds or choose equities only. I am 58 years old and wish to invest approx £100k. I realise that for someone of my age the perceived wisdom would be to own their age in bonds. However as I have other means of supporting myself and no deadline by which…

What to do with a modest inheritance...?
Hi, Long post alert! But the reason for this is that I see a lot of new people getting slated for not providing enough info or not having done enough research, so I wanted to ensure that I'm giving enough context to justify this new posting! Apologies if this is a question that has been asked a lot, but I've had a read…

Ethical investments tax free for neice and nephew
Hi, I would like to invest about 20 per month in account for each of my niece's, nephew, and my own child. Premium Bond winning odds query....
With the maximum holding being £30k, is there any advantage, winning odds-wise, of 2 holdings of £15k (within two partners) as opposed to one holding the maximum amount. Martin's Bond calculator suggests not. Have I missed anything? Ignore any tax implications etc...

Royal Mail privatisation... Would you?
Radio 4's Today is full of the forthcoming privatisation. SWMBO is very unkeen - "it's not right" - but I rather suspect it'll be too good an opportunity to miss, and since a boycott on principle won't make any difference, it seems daft to miss out. What think you? Obviously, the prospectus isn't out yet, so the details…

Halifax Switching service
Incentive being £100 credit to account but here's the problem, they will close down my current existing account if I switch and I don't want that. Naive question about IFA
I'm looking to invest and I don't have the time or knowledge to do it myself. I've spoken to some IFA's and looked at qualifications, fees etc. So assume I've selected an advisor, we've discussed types of investments, my risk profile, etc. The adviser goes away, comes up with a suggested portfolio, what's the normal…

DTL Capital
Has anybody heard of this company? Are they legitimate? They want me to invest with them rather than investing in Isas. Said I'd consider it giving me chance to do some investigating but can't find much on them. Any feedback will be greatly accepted.

About to use BOE+0.39% offset
When the base rate tumbled and I was lucky to be enough to be on a lifetime BOE+0.39% base rate tracker mortgage. Scottish Widows sent me a letter reminding me of the offset facility which I found amusing because only a mug would offset at 0.89% when you can just stick the money in a savings account and make more than…
