£10,000 to invest for house deposit
Hi, I've been fortunate enough to come across the above. I'd like to keep half in cash in an ISA. But the rates are so lame, I'm thinking more like £3,000. I'd like to have a reasonably mixed portofolio with the rest. I was thinking a mix of the following: - Some of the larger players on the FTSE 100 particularly those…

Best place to invest £30,000 pension fund.
5 years ago we invested £30k in a portfolio. Today it is worth £29k and we only took a small income for 1 year before the stock market wobble. Should we leave well alone, or withdraw the money (we can do this without penalty now) and put into something else that would provide some increase or interest.

Investment Fund Charges
A member of my wifes family is looking to invest £90,000. He has been in touch with a Financial Adisor and he has stated his company charge an initial 3% to set up the fund and then an annual 0.75% charge. Are these charges about the going rate.Seems a lot to me.

Is Cahoot any good?
Had decided last night to invest funds maturing today in the Close Brothers one year fixed rate bond, only to find that it has been closed:eek: See that Cahoot are offering 2.5% for a one year fix, but I don't know anything about them. Does anyone have an opinion as to how good/bad they are?

Funds available on TD Direct
Does anyone know if TD Direct publishes a list of funds that they sell and rebates they give? I mean something you can look at before you open an account. In particular, I am wondering if they offer the clean W class of Newton Real Return and the semi-clean No Trail class of Invesco Perpetual Income (which still pays…

TD Direct Investing New Rates
So TD Direct have introduced new rates from 1 February. http://www.tddirectinvesting.co.uk/choose-an-account/rates-and-charges/administration-and-other-charges/~/media/uk/pdf/rates-charges-addendum.ashx They look pretty competitive to me, unless I am missing something(am I?) I am surprised there is no platform fee for…

Cashing In An ISA (Charges?)
My wife has a stocks and shares ISA with Fidelity which after a couple of years where it has increased in value by £150 we want to cash in. I know if I ring the IFA he will just try to talk us into not doing it (of course they are getting a yearly .5% commission so thats understandable) but we just want to cash it in. I…

Easy investment options?
I currently have all my savings (around £50k) in savings accounts earning fairly miserable interest rates (2.5-3% at best) and would like to diversify a bit. I'm happy to take on a bit of risk, but whenever I've dabbled in the stock market I've found myself becoming a bit obsessive about how my investments are…

Am I crazy?
My wife and for really stupid reasons probably got into a lot of debt. We turned things a little but still have a sizable amount left, about £11,000. The good part is we now have a little more than £11,000 in a couple of ISA's right now. The debt is on 0% deals that are expiring in September 2013, a short time after the 1…

Exploiting cheap loans?
Given the current economic climate is now as good a time as any to be using as much credit as possible to fund investments and pocket the difference? I have cash available as collateral on the sort of loan I'm considering (assuming I can get approval) and any loans taken and invested would result in a worst case scenario…

Fidelity Fundsnetwork preventing partial stocks and shares ISA transfers
Just to confirm that Fidelity Fundsnetwork have changed their terms and conditions to prevent partial transfers of ISAs away from their platform. So an investor with say a 140K ISA portfolio with them wants to transfer 20K away, then Fidelity won't now allow them to do so. I raised a complaint with Fidelity after reading…

Found share certificate, but company taken over
I was clearing out some papers the other day, when I found a share certificate. I made some enquires and found that the company had been taken over a few years ago. I didn't know anything about this. I rang the new company and the person who answered said that the finance director was the one to talk to and that they would…
