ITV Martin Lewis - Premium Bonds
Dear Mr Martin Lewis, No I like having some Premium Bonds, always a good chance of winning a £1,000,000 and getting my money back if I needed to. Contrast that with The lottery and you can end up losing your stake too.

Fund management fees of 1.5% reasonable?
I manage a large part of my savings via Hargreaves Lansdown, investing in a range of managed funds for the most part. Typical annual management fees are often now set at 1.5% for alot of the funds that I'm interested in. Unfortunately H-L usually don't offer any rebate on the annual fees as far as I know, although they…

Sale of house/ downside = profit - liable for tax?
My in-laws have their house on the market and are ultimately looking to downsize. They will be left with a cash surplus from the sale of their house and the purchase price of what they buy next. I would estimate the figure will be in the £40k region. If they just bank the surplus, are they liable to any capital gains tax…

Is anyone using Investec High 10 or High 5 issue 2?
I like that the accounts offer 'almost' the best rate, without having to keep constantly moving money around from one bonus paying account to another. Would anyone who uses either account recommend them? I note there is a minimum balance of £25k. Is it possible to add additional deposits to your account after opening it?…

Santander maturity question - please advise
Hi, I have a Santander direct share and investment ISA which matures today. I personally visited my local branch and handed in my instructions last week (19th). I have requested it be transferred to my Natwest current account. I understand that they say in the documentation to allow 'up to ten working days' from the…

opening a new isa for transfer
I opened a new cash ISA in April. It does not accept transfers. Meantime last year's old isa's high rate will fall to next to nothing in December. Can I open a new ISA to transfer in that money so that I may get a decent rate? I won't be putting new money in, merely transferring.

Upgrade old account to Tesco Internet Saver 2.4%
Hi, I have an old Tesco Internet Saver for 1.9% interest rate. I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade it to the new 2.4% new Tesco Saver account? I couldn't see any option for "existing customers" within the application. Any thoughts? Thanks,

Help with childs investment please
My son has just inherited just over £50k. He is 8, and I have to hold the funds until he is 18, as per the will. I have been into the nationwide today and discussed investing in low risk funds through legal and general. At the moment his money is sitting in my name on his behalf in a 90 day savers account at 2.2%.…

Structured products...
What are peoples views on structured products? I was looking at this: http://ukmarkets.rbs.com/EN/Showpage.aspx?pageID=10&ISIN=GB00B8MMZ482 To me, an RBS default seems low risk (govt backed). A ftse < 2946 also low risk (even the worst of the credit crisis kept it well above that). So it looks like an almost guaranteed…

Lump sum for monthly interest
I've had £43,000 in a fixed rate bond for 3 years with Nationwide and it's been paying me £116 per month for 3 years. It is due to mature soon and I wonder where I can reinvest and get similar monthly income on it (or more if possible).

Maybe a lightbulb moment?
Don't know if it will work but just realised that Bank of Scotland are also offering the Vantage bonus (not quite the same as Lloyds but still useful) and so have applied for a Classic Vantage account. If that works perhaps it's possible to get another one too? Seeing saving rates almost disappear is making it difficult to…

Why are savings rates on the floor?
I have just had a 1 year bond with Cheshire Building Society reach maturity, the new rate on offer for a 1 or 2 year bond was very low, I’ve had a look and all rates seem to be around the same. Could somebody tell me what happened that rates suddenly dropped.

ISA Share Dealing Accounts with no management fees
Hi I have been investing in self select shares online through an ISA for years. Moved from Self Trade a year or so ago as their account charges were too much. Moved to Halifax who at the time had no account management charges. They have now introduced some, approx £20/quarter. I only invest small sums £50/month through…

Allied Irish Bank (Savings Direct)
Allied Irish Bank (Savings Direct) have now ceased offering any new products, as of 23/11/2012. I enquired about their products last week and they only had a 12 month fixed term account, now they have nothing! This only applies to the Savings Direct arm of the bank.
