Drop in well paid using IFA's
So why would the well paid stop using IFAs? Maybe it's because they don't see any value for money? "According to a new study of 2,073 adults in the UK released today by AT Kearney, the global management consultancy in accordance with YouGov, increasing numbers of high earners with a salary over £100,000 are choosing not to…

Seen IFA, But also seen neg comments on here...
Thoughts on the products I've been recommended, please! I have had a couple of consultations with IFA, about investing £80k. Although I am 'adventurous' on the risk scale, I don't really consider this money my own, therefore wish to be more cautious with it. (It is intended for my children, I have recently been widowed). I…

Buying certificated shares for a relative
My FIL wants to buy his granddaughter (my niece) some shares for her 21st Birthday. I observed that shares in a single company was high risk and suggested an Investment Trust. Given that it's intended that she hold these long term, I also suggested that maybe an Emerging Market IT such as Templeton Emerging Markets (TEM)…

Working out Tax on Savings
Hi, I am trying to work out much tax I have paid, because my on-line bank doesn't show it and I need it for my records. So for example all I have on the bank statement is £11.27 after tax, but how do I work at how much I was paid before tax at 20%. I know it should be simple, but I can't seem to get the right answer. Thanks

Vanguard Lifestrategy Fund
Hi, I invest in this fund via S&S ISA on a monthly basis through H&L. I was told today that I can invest direct with Vanguard. I've tried to compare the 'costs' to me of investing with Vanguard direct and H&L to see which is cheaper but I'm tying myself in knots and also have no confidence I'm doing the comparison…

Static Holdings of Share/Bond etc Investment Trusts for the Long Term
Like many people I don't have the time/abilitity/inclination to endlessly research where my investments should be nor have I any real idea of how I should choose someone to advise me. I am also aware that fees can very quickly erode returns. When I have switched funds I have never been convinced that I have gained much. I…
