a sad loss, but we can still add £12,000 to existing accounts in April

I opened one on the 6th online, but haven't had any correspondence from them. Do you think this means my account won't be opened?0

I'd still expect them to fullfill it.
However, filling in the online form doesn't do much other than print out what you typed, put it in an envelope and post it to you. You then have to complete the form and post it back to actually open the account. So it's always quicker to download the application form, fill it in, and post it yourself.
You'll probably get the form tomorrow or early next week. Don't delay to return it.0 -
Received a letter from them on 6th after opening an account on-line for myself and O.H. Signed the application form and sent 2 cheques for opening deposit of £20.
My O.H. signed my cheque as it is a joint account chequebook.
told him that wasn't right, he said it would be o.k.
Guess what?:(
They kindly rang yesterday, when we were out all day, to say my cheque was invalid as I should have signed it for my own opening account.
Sent new cheque off today and they will return other one.
so, my O.H. has his account opened but now mine will be at a later date.
The worst thing is that I remember reading about this on another thread and told him!!!!!!
If you want anything doing right, do it yourself:mad:0 -
Fingers crossed they do!
I didn't even realise I could have done that! How annoying!0 -
Received my letter today thankfully! However, I have to send my driving license and another form of ID to them. Why is opening savings accounts never simple, it's always such a faff! Hope it's all set up soon so I can transfer my 12k!

You must have failed the electronic id - I didn't get asked for anything other than my signature. Just need to wait a week to put the final 1K in for this year. I could fill it up now, but for the 60p in interest I'm going to be losing, its not worth the hassle.0 -
You run the risk that they drop the account before your application arrives. Then you'll wish you'd done it online.I didn't even realise I could have done that! How annoying!
Also, they might have to write back and ask you for ID. With the online application, they can check your ID during the process and tell you if they need papers."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
