Governor Money - anyone used them?

I really like the idea of the alerts. I usually change my savings account once a year, sometimes less though because looking for better…

Joint accounts - funeral expenses
Hi - I have a joint account with a relative recently deceased. I tried to withdraw some money to pay for the funeral & they blocked the account. Is this usual practise with banks or is this just the Bank of Ireland? Sounds illegal to me?

Bestinvest - Investment Advisory
Anyone have any experience of this service? On paper is looks like a good idea, there are no initial charges and no annual charges, the only costs being the AMC which the funds pay to Bestinvest and none of this is rebated. However it appears BestInvest don't make much money out of it, so I wonder what sort of service they…

Another stupid question about dividends
I posted recently about how dividends were paid on shares and received some helpful advice. I'm hoping somebody can also help with this one - I have a HL Isa in which I have invested in various funds. My question is how dividends are dealt with on funds - until now I had always assumed that with OEIC funds, the dividends…

Astrazenica or GSK
Have been thinking of investing £3000 in one or the other as a defensive stock with reasonable dividend. I dont really know which one to go for and not sure it is possible to sensibly choose but both now ex divi today and so have dropped. GSK has gone down .2% Astrazenica by .9% which makes it look quite cheap. Why as they…

Professional Finance people no better than amateurs
shortfall on endowment mortgages with Aviva Just to remind everyone that you should be very aware to treat any advice from any finance advisor (salesman) or whatever with a large pinch of salt. Endowments have hit the headlines again, some 70,000 people will find out that their endowments will not cover their mortgages.…

2 savings questions - long term safety & medium term risk for VERY small amounts.....
Firstly, I’ll apologise in advance for the fact that this post contains some really silly questions and statements, but having conducted quite a bit of research, I’m back to square one and still stumped. Also, apologies for the length of the post. Additionally, I do realise that any replies to this post don’t constitute…

switching funds and cgt
Hi, I currently hold a couple of thousand pounds in a hsbc ftse all share tracker outside of an isa and was thinking of switching them to the equivalent vanguard tracker by selling the former and buying the latter on the same day. I did a bit of research and found out that you are not meant to buy the same investment for…

Hey guys, just a quick one... If I transfer my savings of about £14000 from one ISA to another (looking at the Nationwide one featured as a best buy Cash ISA) are there any penalties for using the cash before the end of the financial year (April 2013)? I want to max my saving in between now and June/July as then they will…
