Lloyds Vantage Account - Wrong Interest?
I have £6268.83 in one of my accounts and I have paid over £1000 into this month so I qualify for the 4% (3.2% after tax?) However I noticed my interest was only £13.77 when it should have been £16.48. Yes I know its pennies but it adds up...I've used Martins saving calculator and Google to work it out and they both return…

Control of Child Savings
Hi I have paid into the halifax childrens regular saver for the first year and am under pressure from my wife not to pay any more into the account (even though I am considering my father opening an account to make sure I dont breach the £100 interest barrier) because she does not want my daughter having control of the…

AA Savings account? any experiences?
Hi, I was thinking about moving my savings into an AA savings account which pays 3.15% for balances less than 50k. Has anyone else got a savings account with the AA? how have they been for you? Would love to hear some other experiences before going for it. Thanks

Saga 2 year bond changes
Think the banks do read these forums as someone here said. Saga have withdrawn and replaced their 2 year bond, changing the access conditions. If you wish to access your money in the first year you lose 180 days gross interest. If it there is less than a year to go you lose 90 days. (There is no access allowed for the 1…

AA Savings account? any experiences?
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using the AA for their savings account. I'm looking at moving my savings and they seem to have a good rate of 3.15% for balances less than 50k....which seems fairly ok. I cant find much about peoples experiences with them though, so any thoughts would be appreciated.…

ISA,Current Account,Saving Accounts
Apparently ISA is suppose to be the best, but it seems that all the interests paid on any account from any bank is quite low compared to what interest they want back when you borrow from them. I think its about 29% apr or something and they only give you like less then 5% and that's even taxed on your savings. Anyone know…

Interest rate predictions
So, the UK is grinding out of recession. Quantitative easing seems to have avoided the spectre of deflation, but looks likely to lead to short term inflation but may settle down later. Bank base rate is at an all-time low. But savings and mortgage rates are running at 6-10x base. So anyone have any predictions for what…

Britannia 5 yr Bond
http://www.britannia.co.uk/home/_site/campaign/bonds/3yr-frb/index.html?display_bonds What ya think ? Seems like a good one ! .. With the Newcastle Society, type, get out clause ?! A Rate penalty, but who knows rates may not go up much, if at all .

Islamic banking
I saw an ad today for a fixed term deposit account with the Islamic Bank of Britain which may be of interest to a friend of mine who lives overseas but I've got a question which some of you may be able to help with. How can I find out if it's covered by the FSA £50,000 guarantee?

Abbey regular saver matured 2 months early!
My Abbey Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (Issue 8) (6%) had its interest paid to-day - 2 months early. Something similar happened in 2007 when some customers were paid interest one month early due to a system error. Presumably, this also indicates that the Fixed Rate Monthly Saver rate of 6% is no longer effective. Interest was…

Bradford and Bingley registration query
I have just read that Bradford and Bingley are a separate registration from Abbey/Santander/A & L until probably the end of next year. I read this on this site under best fixed savings but my understanding was that A & L were the institution under separate reg at the moment not B & B. Could someone clarify this for me, was…

Can you suggest some low-risk funds?
Could anyone suggest funds that someone in my position might consider? I have around 20,000 pounds to invest, and up to now have relied on cash ISAs, but now interest rates are too low to be attractive, and I think that this is generally a good time to get some exposure to equities. However, I would prefer to avoid…

Investment Benchmarking when drip-feeding
I have been investing in a range of unit trusts for last last 18 months and I want to begin benchmarking my portfolio against the FTSE All Share Index to test my strategy. I would be able to do this easily if I had invested a lump sum and not more. The problem is that I am dripfeeding money every month and rebalancing…

Halifax Guaranteed Reserve - more than one?
Sorry folks, this must have been asked loads of times, but can't find from a search here and I don't spot it in the T&Cs either -- can you hold more than one Halifax Guaranteed Reserve account? It doesn't seem to be specifically ruled out in the T&Cs, so presumably you can? Thanks!

5 year Gaurenteed Equity Bond...Britannia
Ok my 5 year bond matures on December 2, 2009. Opened December 2 2004. It is guaranteed equity so my initial £1000 is safe whatever happens. I have actually inherited the account so I do not know the specifics of it but it looks like its based on the FTSE 100. If the FTSE 100 rose in value over the 5 years I got~ 5% AER,…

Abbey / Santander Customer Service
A family member went into an empty Abbey branch to draw out a cheque (£200) to pay an annual bill, cashier said they couldn't and handed a leaflet which read:- Doesn't exactly convey good customer service being handed it when there are no queues. Words 'vote' and 'feet' come to mind
