Barclays Wealth FTSE Generator Bond 6%
An earlier question prompted me to look a bit deeper into guaranteed equity bonds. This appears to be a new product: http://www.barclayswealthprotectedinvestments.com/pub/doc/product/265/10799%20BWL1227%20FTSE%20Generator%20Bond%20Issue%20-%20September%202009%20-%20Brochure.pdf Most bonds appear to be for a fixed term and…

Finally ready to store 75K
Hi, I have asked a couple of times for advice so far, but my situation keeps changing - so I am sorry if you already have advised, but I wanted to check! I have 75K to save for 9-12 months (split between my wife and I so I guess we will open either a joint account or two identical accounts to keep under 50K each). Chances…

18 Year investing
I am looking to invest around 100 pounds each year for my nephew. I was hoping to do it in a way that wasn't just handing over cash. A friend said she knew of someone who did this by buying a crate of wine each year. Any ideas what this might be, or any other suitable ways of investing for his future without just giving…

Standard Life 10 year savings plan – MASSIVE shortfall
My wife has recently received notification from Standard Life that her 10 year savings plan, which has had a fixed amount of £50 per month paid into it, is approaching maturity. Simple maths tells us that she has paid £6000 into the plan. However, the final sum which is about to be paid out is a little over £6067!! What an…

Rainy Day Savings
Morning all, I've saved some money for a 'rainy day' and was looking to put it into a savings account and pretty much leave it there until I need it. I have an instant savings account but looking to move it somewhere different to remove temptation from using it as well as getting a better rate. I remember that savings…

Moving Money Around Accounts
Hi - I have recently opened an Egg Savings account. Currently hold my money in ICICI - the problem I have is that to move money from ICICI I have to do it through A&L which is my linked account. There is 50K in the ICICI account at the moment and worried that it will look funny/dodgy - like money laundering if I am moving…

how do tracker funds gain in value over time?
I am trying to understand how trackers/ETF's and growth funds for that matter can gain me value over time. What I mean by this is if I buy £1000 worth of a fund, after 10 years this fund may or may not have gone up in value depending how the market is at that time, it could have doubled after 5 years but slowly gone down…

Please advise! Which bank shares should I invest in?
I have a spread of investments, and have some capital I am prepared to take more risk with in return for possible big returns. I am assuming around 5-10 years to see the possible returns. Which of the major banks looks like the best option to buy shares in? Should I go for one like RBS? What happens to the shares if they…

FSCS £50,000 protection v Offset Mortgage
If you have over £50,000 of savings linked with an offset mortgage and the bank goes bust do you end up still owing the full amount of your outstanding mortgage but now only £50,000 of savings as guaranteed by the FSCS? Or, do they write off as much of the mortgage as possible with your savings before applying the £50,000…

Is Egg's 3.25% account now withdrawn?
The reason I ask is that, although it's still listed on MSE, I've noticed just now that the savings account has vanished from 2 other savings account comparisons sites (which puts 'games-playing' I.N.G. back in the no.1 spot).

Lloyds Gross Interest
Hi there, I'm a bit annoyed with Lloyds. First I had to wait half an hour although I had an appointment because the counter staff just "forgot" to let my adviser know that I had arrived... Now, I'm even more annoyed. Actually, I'm eligible for GROSS Interest. I've told this my Lloyds adviser when I've opened another two…
