Found share certificate

Have recently found a share certficate (in my name) I had no previous knowledge of. My mother must have lodged this with my bank . The Certificate is for Nottingham Corporation 3 per cent stock. (irredeemable) and is date 30th August 1974, to my knowlege I have never received any interest. Any idea on who I can contact about this.

It's not really a share, it sounds like a Local Authority loan, so the equivalent of government bonds but issued by the local council to raise money. They went out of fashion about that time.

My suggestion would be to contact the City Treasurer's office (director of finance or whatever name they have) at Nottingham and see what response you get.
