Over 50s/"Silver Saver" accounts illegal...(maybe)
Rather unfortunate timing, but it looks like accounts offered at the Over 50's / Over 60's / any type age restriction may fall foul of new anti-ageism laws. http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/business/New-ageism-laws-to-hit.4863600.jp Rather unfortunate timing, when pensioners with savings are probably experiencing the…

Power of Attorney Bank Account
Hi. Has anyone had any success setting up a Power of Attorney bank account? I have to set an account on behalf of my mother and for the last three months have had an extremely frustrating experience with Alliance & Leicester. They have no knowledge of POA's at branch level and three times the forms have been returned by…

Does anybody know of a freephone No. to call the above? I've just looked at my statement and there are two credits which are not mine, I don't want to pay call charges to let them know, after all it's their mistake, and they don't have an email address.

Overpay mortgage or save?
With all the rate cuts my tracker mortage repayments have dropped ~£400 since I re-mortgaged in the summer. Assuming my current mortgage rate is 2.29% and my ISA rate is 4.2% is my logic correct in thinking that my surpless £400 would be better off in the ISA than overpaying the mortgage. Logic tells me this is a no…

I have just inherited 70k and have no idea what to do with it. I don't have any debts, but would like to use it to help fund my pension in 10 years. I quite like the thought of co-buying a buy to let with my daughter. What do you think? Or if not any advice?

Dare they reduce interest rates again?
I have been reading a lot of the blogs (from online newspapers) and there are a lot of angry (mostly pensioners) people who rely on interest from their savings and some are threatening to withdraw all their deposits if the BoE makes further cuts. Could this be a likely scenario? Runs on the banks by protesting angry…

Bank got me again
they charged me because a £5 direct debit bounced, then they asked for again and it bounced again. Then they had the nerve to charge me for an unauthorized overdraft. I didn't ask for it I don't have a credit card, debit card or cheque book, so it must have been the d d. So I got £120 for DLA and only got £30 in my bank to…

So confused, in need of a banking overhaul
I've got various bank accounts and until today after reading Martin's guides and having a look at my statements I had no idea just how pathetic the interest rates were on them, so I'm planning to sort them out and hopefully earn myself a little bit more money per year in the process. I'm a mature student (27) and my only…
