Nationwide - stability/security
Does anyone think that the Nationwide is having difficulty more than any other financial institution at the moment or are the poor interest rates just a sign of the times currently. We have historically always had our savings with them as their rates have been pretty competitive and we have always had excellent customer…

Free online shares portfolio tool?
For the idle, to avoid sitting and totting up figures, is there such a thing as a free online tool or service where I can enter (and securely keep) details of shares held, which keeps itself updated with current values, so we can check in from time to time to see what they're doing and what their worth is, per holding and…

Isa or mortgage overpayment
Hello, apologies if this is in the wrong place. Until recently my mortgage was fixed at 4.79 % and I had lots of years' Isa allowance (about 23K in total) making more interest than that... so it made sense to leave it there. However, now my ISA is making significantly less interest than I'm paying on my mortgage (now on…

Friendly Society ISA - How safe?
I have an ISA with a Friendly Society, and recently checked the interest rate on it. I was told it is still earning 10% minus 3% admin charges, and that I'll be informed if it changes. It seems to me that this is clearly an unsustainable rate, so I'm worried that my money may not be safe. Are these Friendly Societies…

Interest Rate Notification Scandal
I just received an email today to tell me that an account I have with B&B has reduced their interest rates in line with the BOE rate. Fair enough so far. However, it says it will apply the rate from mid-December! If I'd known this in mid-december I would have put the cash elsewhere. Where does this stop? Can a bank paying…

Silly questions about foreign bank accounts
Hi, silly question.... What is to stop someone opening a foreign bank account in a country with a high rate of interest? That way any bank account gets great payments on interest every year? Why don't people do this? Obviously it is not straight forward as I seem to think it is or everyone would do it. For instance an ISA…

Savings/CD dual-signature or other such protection?
I have an investor willing to loan money to my business for specific purposes. We have a contract to that effect, but he is looking for additional protection, such as dual-signautre or even a CD that would mature in his name? Is there any financial instrument we could use to do so under my business account rather then just…

Short Term Savings
Whats the best thing to do with short term savings. Like with the yearly holiday savings. Your going to spend within a year and is only going to be up to a grand, a grand and a half.

Icesave query
My OH had both a cash ISA and small amount of savings with Icesave. He's been reimbursed for both but needs to know the amount of interest he was paid on the savings account for self-assessment purposes. He didn't print off the account details before getting his payout -- is there any way he can get them now?
