Icesave - Waiting For Maturity
Hi Guys, Just a quick question - I remember reading on this forum that people who waited for their maturity would be paid interest for the time between 7Oct ->claim time. In other words they would not lose any interest - Is this the case? I want to initiate the claim but am wondering whether to leave the money in Icesave…

Savings not as good?
I'm a little annoyed that the interest rate has been cut down again. I know the gov't is doing all they can to help the economy and also urges banks to pass on the rate cut to those who have mortgages but there isn't any guarantee that they will do that. One thing that is guaranteed though is that the savers will suffer as…

Trying to make sense of Market Valuation Reduction
Don't know if this is quite in the right section for discussion, but I can't find any other heading more appropriate on the forum at the moment. I invested a lump sum with a large, well known and reputable insurance company in 1999. It is a With Profits policy, and when I took the policy out the agent infomed me that: a)…

Businesses and deposit accounts
Hi, Anywhere you can get a table of business deposit rates (for accounts where you don't need a business current account with the same institution). Also is it possible for businesses to have accounts with National savings? That way you could have more than 50k guaranteed? Cheers, Chris

Hyperinflation

I have a £XXX's in savings now,and it hyperinflation were to occur,it would wipe the value. What is the best option to combat…

Evenin' all! Ok, so I'll start at the beginning. I'm 25, back living at home with my mum, have a little bit of debt, but debt which is more than manageable for now. I live in Scotland, and am currently applying to go back to uni and do a post-grad in teacher training. Hopefully, I'll be accepted – but the prospect of…

Advice needed on saving
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me get the best rates for my savings. I currently have an ISA with Natwest with about £2.5k in it. I also have two regulare saver accounts. One with HSBC which pays 8% and one with HBOS which pays 7%. I am not expecting to need the money for a while so I don't mind locking it in, it also…

Nationwide poor rates.
I thought Building Societies were for their members. The Nationwide now has shocking rates, with their ISAs down to 2.6%, and other accounts much lower. We are lending them money with our saving and we don't lend for nothing and they should take note of this or they will notice it when people start leaving them.

Where to save
Me and my partner have just got through a rough patch in our relationship which nearly resulted in myself moving out and I had to give up my dog as well to work on it. Anyway we've talked and decided we do love each other so have set about getting out finances in check. We're going to pay about £400 out each month to pay…

Norwich & Peterborough PHISHING PAGE?
I just went to log into my N&P account. I then clicked on the login button and up popped the page which had the N&P logo. BUT...the option boxes then offered were 'Username' & 'Password' Funny, I thought, didn't feel right. Now, I've only ever logged in a couple of times, as I opened it to stick the maximum covered by the…

At the moment all my savings are fixed around 6%, but if in a years time the best deal you could get was 3% what would you do. Grin and bear it, or is there a plan B ?

Santander rights issue question
Hi Folks I have some shares with Santander, 100 to be exact. At the moment I confused as to what is going on with my shares and this rights issue. The issue is further complicated because I acquired the shares due to being an employee here in the UK. Last year Santander gave each employee 100 shares as part of their 150…

First Direct Money Market Account
Anyone noticed the mysterious looking Money Market Account listed in the Fixed rate section of First Direct, just below their 7% ISA (which obviously you can only put peanuts in until the 7% carriage turns into a 2.5% pumpkin 12 months later). I just called to find out what interest rate they'd pay if you put £50,000 with…
