If we switched to the euro, would the money in our accounts change aswel?
What would happen if the UK switched over to euros at some point? Would all of the currency in our bank accounts change to euros automatically? I presume that it would but want to make sure. It would suck to have pounds sterling stuck in a fixed term whilst everyone else in the country had switched to the euro. It would be…

Barclays pushing investment bond?
My 84 year old mother has inherited my late father's money and his attitude to money management - keep it all in Barclays and don't worry about the interest rate, in fact better still keep it all in an obsolete and therefore low rate account. After failing to persuade her to let me find homes for it in other institutions…

London Scottish high interest bond renewal ?
I have a one year high interest bond with the London Scottish bank that matures soon. They have offered me a one year reinvestment at 7.00 % gross which is very good. This bank seems to be struggling at the moment and the share price is miserable. What do you think I should do ?

Hello everybody, I am new in this Forum and I am wondering if some of you know WSBC Bank (https://www.wsbcbank.com) from Cook Islands. Are Brown and Darling destroying our wealth , currency and economy ?
The pound took a nosedive again today to fall under $1.50 and is rapidly achieving the status of a banana republic currency and making us a laughing stock. Brown and Darling are fiddling while the nation's economy sinks. You only need to study economics for one day or even one hour to know that the more money you print as…

Interest rates in 12 month's time?
Hey all, I recently opened a fixed rate (5.8%) account for 1 year with Halifax (to guarantee a good interest rate for a year) I'm wondering whether, in your opinion, it'll be next to impossible to find a savings account in 12 month's time which pays anywhere near this amount of interest? Obviously the rates would depend on…

PAKISTAN raises interest rates to 15 percent (BBC News)
So what will most savers reading this say? 'Nothing to do with me. 'I don't live in Pakistan '. Well it DOES MATTER to us all . Why ? Because Pakistan has many of the same problems we have, including a rapidly falling currency . Yet it has been having discussions with the IMF for a bailout loan and one of the conditions…

I have a further £45000 which I was going to invest in the Saga fixed rate bond at 6.85% and I have the application form ready to return..BUT am I right in thinking that there is a link between Halifax and Saga, which may affect the £50000 compensation limit? In…

YBS E-Saver/Internet Saver
I opened an E-Saver with Yorkshire Building Society a few years ago, and there it sat as I couldn't get into the online part and never did anything about it! A few weeks ago I wanted to shift some money & so rang them up and they sorted out my online access. Upon logging in and looking at the interest rates I noticed they…

How low will sterling fall to?
With sterling dropping steadily, is it time to now switch savings into other currency? Since we are not going to be making much interest on savings in UK banks and the possibility of a near-worthless £ it does look like an attractive option. How low will sterling fall to. Frightening times

Are Banks deliberately not telling us of rate reductions
I had an email from Bradford & Bingley with the new reduced rates 4 days ago yet their web site still show the old rates. Ive also checked a few others and they still show the old rates from 1.11.08. I know for a fact they have reduced them so I suspect people are being duped. I understand that if a rate cut is under 2%…

I am a US citizen returning to the States after living in the UK for the past 3 years. I have a Lloyds Current account which I am able to keep open after I leave, and I also have the option of setting up an Internet Saver account (not the best interest rates, but it allows me to earn slightly more than the Current…
