What are the best fixed rate savings accounts still available?
All this financial stuff is a bit confusing for me and I have no idea how bonds are. I currently have my savings invested in First Direct and although they have great customer service, their interest rates are lousy so I am going to bite the bullet and look elsewhere. The question is where to start? Me and hubby can invest…

I have several fixed rate bonds and read in the newspaper today that some banks/building societies have reduced the rates on them, ie Anglo Irish bank and Julian Hodge bank, can they do this? I thought when I took out fixed rate that it was fixed for the term? whats the point of investing in a "fixed rate" when it is not…

Icesave ISA/Tesco Internet Saver Q
Hi, Just a quick (probably daft!) question or two! I had an Icesave ISA which I've just received back in my linked current account. Can I transfer it out into a normal savings account (the Tesco one, to get the bonus points!) and then back into my current account, before moving it on into a new ISA? Or can it only go…

Northern Rock Fixed 4.85% - good deal?
What do people think of this offer? Worth it? Would love to fix my savings as B&B are killing me at the moment. They seem to drop their rate a lot quicker than let you know about new savings account, where they will pay higher rates!

Looking for three 6-month bonds
I have just (thankfully) received my savings from Icesave and am looking for somewhere to quickly stash the cash for 6 months while the housing market settles. The total sum is a decent £150,000 so I need three bonds to spread the risk (not making the same mistake twice!). I already have a current account with the Halifax…

Barclays Monthly Savings 7.49%
Just been to open a Barclays Monthly Savings account before the fixed rate falls. It was.... odd. I only needed one form of id (driving licence) and she refused the council tax bill I'd also got with me specially. I then said about making the first payment today, and she said 'no, it has to be by standing order'. This…

Rate cut hopes rise on record inflation fall to 4.5%
"Inflation tumbled at a record pace in October to 4.5 per cent, down from the 16-year peak of 5.2 per cent in September. The bigger-than-expected fall in inflation helps to explain the Bank of England's dramatic 1.5 per cent rate cut. Analysts say that the figure paves the way for more rate cuts. The Bank expects inflation…
