What's the lowdown on Citibank then?
Looking for somewhere to move quite a chunk of money, if ING don't do the decent thing and quickly. Citibank's site says they are paying 5.29%, which is a decent deal in the current climate. Any drawbacks that anyone knows of?

Easiest long term saving
Long-term saving seems very complicated to me. I've always filled my mini cash ISA up (and move it whenever there is a better offer), but am now looking at pensions/ very long-term saving (I'm 26). I was in the company pension scheme with my previous employer but am yet to look into pensions since moving to (dare I say…

Longer term savings for education
I want to put aside a regular amount a month for five years. This is to help my younger son who has mild special needs when he gets to secondary age. He's in a great primary school but we're not impressed by any of our local secondary schools and fear he may need to go private. Where should we be putting a regular amount…

Rebalancing a portfolio
Hi all Just going through a tortuous rebalancing exercise and would appreciate any comment anyone has. A bit about me. No debts, mortgage paid off & in FS Local Govt Pension Scheme. With this in mind I think I can be adventurous in investment, but would like to know if others think the following reflects this; I'm probably…

Savings for 18year old student
My son is in his final year at school, he has about £4000 to invest. He doesn't work (!) and is intending to either go to university next year or take a 'gap' year where it is unlikely he will be earning anything and may in fact need a modest allowance each month. He currently has a basic cash card type bank account with…

Bad advice received - any comeback?
A few years ago we received a small inheritance and went to the bank for advice on investing this ethically. Chose them because they were "independent". We stated that we did not wish to invest in the stockmarket and that we were looking for low risk investments. Even with ISAs we stated we wanted cash only. Not knowing…

Savings Q
Hi, I've just been reading through MArtins articles on savings, getting ready for my debt free date next year but am slightly confused. Its mainly about ISAs but would probably affect all savings. Best way to earn interest with 6k?
I went to put a cheque yesterday, and the person ask me if I wanted to transfer my money into a savings account. Alliance Leicester directsaver slowness
I transferred a substantial amount into this a few days ago but although it shows on my balance it doesnt yet show in my "available balance". Is this a way of them not paying interest on it for a few days until they consider it cleared? Cahoot seems to clear straight away.
