Barclays 10% regular savings acc
Just noticed that Barclays have stamped 02/05/2006 as the SO credit date in my regular savings. Orginally this was set up to be credited on the 1st of every month. I know that 01/05/2006 was a bank holiday so I suppose this should not have any effect?

I have $6000 USD what shall I do with it?
At the moment this is in an international current account earning next to nothing in interest. Would I be better off exchanging this into £'s & then putting it into a high interest savings account. Would this be a good time to do so... or shall I wait for a stronger $. I was thinking of leaving $2000 for when I go on…

Newcastle Building Society Interest Rates
We felt Newcastle's rate of 4.75%, gross monthly, was good and put our life savings of £35,000 into their savings account, but six weeks later (today in fact) they have just sent us an email saying that they have reduced it to 4.55% gross monthly. We feel rather cheated and a friend has said that they do this deliberately…

Hello! I have a £5k lump sum, and £650 a month which I want to save for a short, undetermined amount of time, a maximum of 5 months. After this time, the money will go towards a mortgage deposit. Reminder to transfer First Direct Funds on first working day of the month!
Just thought it might be helpful to remind those who want to move funds out of First Direct following the reduction in rates to 4.75% that the first opportunity to do it without major loss of interest is May 2nd. No interest is paid for any month in which a withdrawal is made so it makes sense to remove the total balance…

Unit Trusts - what sort of return can you get
Hi, I have some money to invest and was wondering whether Unit Trusts are worth investing in - I know there are no guarantees, but I was just wondering what sort of return I could expect. Also, what are the tax implications on the money made, i.e. if my husband is in the 40% tax band, would he be liable to pay more tax,…
