Please be gentle with me - this is my first time! We invested £1000 in 4 year bonds for our kids and they have recently matured. We have been tardy in reinvesting the money :doh, but want to rectify this as soon as possible! Do we: * Invest the money in another bond again like the one at the Abbey at 4.6% or similar - any…

ICICI withholding 20% interest - anyone else?
Hi there, I activated my ICICI HiSave account on 30/11/05 (which took 2-3 weeks to open, but no worse than I expected) and credited it with £1, followed by £2000 on 09/12/05. They credited me £5.24 interest on 30/12/05, but also debited £1.05 on the same date, which they've referenced '20% TAX W/H ON INT'. I take this to…

A&L Online Saver Issue 1 rates changed??
If I recall correctly, and I think I do, A&L's Online Saver Issue 1 (the closed one) used to pay 4.75% flat, up to a maximum balance of £25K. Effective today, it is paying 4.50% up to £30K, or 4.75% up to £50K. I cannot see any mention of the previous rate on the website, only the "previous-previous" rate of 5.00%. This…

In order to do this, I need to fill out a Crest Transfer form and send it, with the certificate to my stockbroker. So far so comprehensible... I'm looking at the Form itself, and I'm…

Calculating Compunded interest
Hi Everyone, Question to all you clever mathematicians - can someone please give me the formula for calculating compond interest. ISA £3000 interest question
If you have £3000 in an Isa, then get the interest at the end of the tax year, say for simplicity, £100, you then have £3100. If you then pay £3000 into the ISA 1st April, you then have £6100 in the account. Is this correct or should there only be a max of £6000 in there in the second year? thanks!

A & L Online Saver Issue 2
I've just noticed that Issue 2 now has Gross p.a/AER interest rate of 5.15% until 30/03/07 which includes a fixed bonus of 0.90%. Up until last week the bonus was only payable until 30/06/07. With the rate extended (applicable to new and current issue 2 savers) this is now one of the best short to mid-term savings accounts…
