Newbie - short term investment advice
Hi - just joined the board. We are finally debt free (except the mortgage!) for the first time in 15 years :j . At its worst my partner and I were nearly £40K in debt - but my partner's brother (an IFA) helped us to get a grip of it and then we were able to clear it last summer when we sold our house - the equity cleared…

The proposed account is to be used as a revenue stream to provide a monthly income for paying bills etc, but with NO risk, and potential instant acccess. Would very much welcome your opinion. Regards

Why technical analysis, e.g. charting is not for funds?
Fund charting is free and common for US investors, e.g. http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=ewu,uu[w,a]daclyiay[dd][pb50!b200!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G But not here. What do you think is/are the reason(s)? 1. I do not know/believe in technical analysis 2. I know/believe in technical analysis but it is not…

Anyone know the best TOISA rate at the moment?
I'm thinking of moving from the Lambeth B/S (I'm on their highest TOISA rate). I need a good rate to move otherwise all the moneylaundring/POCA aggro in moving won't make it worthwhile (e.g. ID proof, delays in transfers/lost interest etc.) Thanks for the help.

New ISA account. Made a mistake. Please help...
Hi I opened my first ISA in Oct this year and deposited £3000. Assuming this to be like a normal savings account, I withdrew 2000 thinking I'll deposit the money back as an when I have it. Now the bank won't let me deposit the money into it. Is it possible to close this account and open with somebody else and deposit the…

Britannia equity bond help please
A rep from Bristol and west advised us to invest some savings in a 5 year equity bond scheme. We were told that we would get our initial outlay back plus 8% minimum interest. However at the end of the 5 year qualifying period we have rec'd notification that we will now be getting our money back but with no interest. I…

ICICIbank
I have recently tried to join ICICI Bank but find their interpretation of the Money Laundering security rules rather restrictive. They want to see copies of a passport or driving licence plus utility bill etc. which in itself is OK and typical of other banks BUT they insist that these must be verified by a Solicitor, Bank…

First Direct v Nationwide
At the moment I have about 6.5k in savings which is sitting in a Nationwide e-savings account (I have already used up my ISA allowance!). The rate is 4.75 Gross/AER. I have also opened an account with First Direct for their savings account at 5.00% Gross/AER. Is it worth transfering the money to the higher rate? First…

Regular Saver query
Hey! I am thinking about opening a regular saver account - specifically HSBCs 8% (I have a current account with them). My query really is whether I am better off interest wise drip feeding this account at £250 monthly at 8% aer, or sticking the job lot (i.e. £3000) in my ING account at (soon to be) 4.5% aer. What will get…

Can someone please explain monthly interest to me!
I have a savings account with ING and they pay monthly. Last month I had roughly £730 in there and they paid me £1.30. I was obviously wrong in calculating my interest by dividing the rate by 100 and then multiplying by the money there. I know that 4.75 is the gross rate but even if I take the net rate as 3.75 (don't know…

saving for a non tax payer...
...I am a stay at home mum, and don't pay tax. I currently have an ISA with about £1500 (M&S 5.00%). I don't really put money in, and the balance hasn't changed that much in about a year. I am looking for something that is more manageable in that I can put money in easily i.e on line, instead of my postal ISA (which to be…

First Direct Everyday Savings
I was only paid £1.76 interest on a balance of £1624 this month. Seemed a bit low, so I checked the details. It's now only paying 1.75% AER! Better move the money I think. Edit: DOH, it is just a cruddy Everyday Savings. I want the E Saver Account. I feel financially abused now - to think I've left £1.6K sat in a crappy,…
