ipledge university savings scheme
I wasn't sure where to put this on the Forum, since it combines cashback, credit cards and savings! http://www.ipledge.co.uk/ipledge2/index.htm Basically, you take out the credit card which offers 0.8% cashback. That's not a bad deal in itself. However the interest on balance transfers is 3.9%, where others offer 0%. The…

10K to invest for 1 year
My parents have 10k and they want to know what they should do with it. So far it has been in a guaranteed reserve. They are prepared to have it tied up for one year, possibly more. Does anyone know the best thing? Another guaranteed reserve? Bonds? ISA already used up. Thank you!

INVESTING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
Hello I'm looking to invest £50 per month for a newly born child to enter higher education at the age of 18. I had thought about ITs with Foreign and Colonial, Witan or Alliance, or possibly a FTSE allshare tracker. Does anybody have any suggestions regarding other suitable funds. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Possible Cahoot loophole
I recently set up a Chaoot account with both a current and a savings account. The current account gives me an overdraft limit of GBP500, of which the first GBP250 is stated as interest free (I don't know for how long). However, it would appear that if I transfer this GBP 250 to the savings account, it will gain interest at…

ROYAL & SUN ALLIANCE QUERY
I read an article on Sunday regarding RSA and would be obliged if anyone could answer a query. My father in law invested £50,000 around 10 years ago with RSA to pay my son's school fees through a Guaranteed School Fees Plan. Should I be worried at all, or was the article nothing to do with this side of RSA's business? Many…

Coventry Members Bond - 6% for 2 years
Coventry Building Society have launched a new bond. It is only available to those who have been members for at least 5 years. It seems to be a carbon copy of the members bond which Nationwide were offering a few weeks ago. It pays 6% gross until maturity on 30/9/06. The useful feature this (and the Nationwide bond) offers…

Inheritance Quandry?
My fathers estate some £12,000 is in three share funds. It has to be split between 4 beneficiaries. Is it usually more cost effective to sell the shares and split the cash (after deducting fees) or is it better to transfer the ownership of a quarter of each fund and pay the costs.

I've about £15k to put away. Problem is I might need to access it within the next 6 months or so. I looked at the Cahoot offer but it only pays interest annually. Is there a comparable account paying monthly or, forgive my ignorance, if I close an 'annual' account within, say, 6 or 7 months do they pay the interest…
