Combi microwave - why does food not taste the same?
I've now got the hang of using my combi microwave but whatever I cook in the oven part doesn't taste as nice as when I do it in the main oven and I don't know why. Does anyone else find this?

Christmas Ham Query
I wonder if anyone can offer advice. My DH bought an Orange, Honey & Rosemary Christmas Ham at Waitrose. Don't even ask how much it cost - it is the last time he gets sent shopping! It was my fault for not giving him more precise instructions. Anyway, I had expected a ham which I would cook (for the lovely stock). However,…

DIY laundry detergent
Hello All, Trolling through the internet I see many recipes for making my own DYI laundry detergent. Most recipes involve mixing grated soap of some kind with soda crystals, borax (which you cannot find in the UK anyway) and bicarbonate soda. However I found the the borax substitute available here has the following…

Ridiculous amount of cream.
Hi everyone I stupidly bought a 600ml thing of double cream for a recipe that only needs 200ml. I'm on my own so that's a lot of cream to get through. I'm making a carrot soup to use some of it, any ideas what I can do with the other 300ml? I hate waste so don't want to throw it away. Anna

How do you remove wax before washing trousers?
OH has had candle wax splashed on his trousers. He's removed all he can, but it had obviously soaked in so it's still visible. What should we do before washing them? If it makes any difference, the trousers are Craghoppers, 65% polyester / 35% cotton. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Care parcel for homeless
There is a homeless man that sleeps in a shop doorway near my office. Instead of sending Christmas cards this year I am using the money to make up a care parcel for him. I have a small drawstring backpack to use as he can carry this no problem. What to put in it though, he keeps fairly clean so thinking toothbrush and…

Duck down duvet which smells

I have just moved into my forever home and I love it. Its a Victorian 3 bed terrace, and for the first time in my life i dont have an airing cupboard! OS Christmas Eve party food
Hello:santa2: I am having my in-laws round for lunch on Christmas eve. This will mean I have 5 adults and 5 children to feed. I could buy party food ready made but I don't mind putting the effort in myself partly in order to save money. It won't be a sit down lunch as I don't have a big enough table so it will need to be…

Big enough?
I bought a turkey crown today, weight 2.4 kg. I didn't notice at the time that it says feeds 4-6. We will be 8 on Christmas Day, 5 adults and 3 boys with healthy appetites. Surely with all the usual trimmings this weight of turkey will feed us all with some left over? I will be making stock from the bones too!

Pork Dripping
Just looking for a bit of advice, please. I usually use goose fat to cook my roast potatoes but I noticed in one of our little shops that they were selling beef dripping. I Googled it and have decided to try this instead of goose fat. We're having home-made wedges tomorrow so I'll try a bit out on them (I usually use 2…
