Easy recipe for coffee cake
I have looked in the index but can't find anything under coffee at all. Want to know what I need to add to a basic mixture to turn it into coffee cake. I only have coffee granules. The icing is easier as I can taste that to see if it's strong enough. Also, is there a conversion to work out how much mixture I need to make a…

Mouldy jam!
In September my OH made some blackberry & apple jam (free apples and foraged berries of course!) and it was delicious. It's been stored in our pantry since. He opened a jar today and it had quite a lot of mould growing on it. On checking the other jars they appear to be the same. I am assuming he boiled it for long enough…

iceberg lettuce
I often buy icebergs on the market, as they're a lot cheaper, but I usually buy two or three, as that's how they're sold and it works out cheaper. But they often end up going slimy besides salad/in sandwiches, is there much that can be done with them? I also thought about using them as tortilla style wraps, but I was…

I just had to let other MSE members know about this! I read in Good Housekeeping that T cut can be used on shower screens to remove limescale. I live in a hard water area and have two showers . Old-style mop
No, not DIY haircuts, I'm looking for one of those old wollen-type mops that we tend to associate with caretakers and dinosaurs. I'm having trouble finding anything other than super-duper vieleda soaks-up-the-Thames type contraptions. Any idea where I can get one? Or am I going to have to accost the caretaker?
