How can I remove the smell of pee off my floorboards?
I spent half the day pulling out a bathroom suite installed in the early sixties. Not only did I have to chisel under the toilet bowl to "persuade" the risted to hell screws out but when I finally did remove in from the floor a great smell of pee flooded the room:eek:  . How can I get rid of this smell by tomorrow…

Carpet/doormat woe
I've had a new pale carpet put down. I want to use a doormat inside so it doesn;t get dirty. BUT the doormat catches as the new carpet is so fluffy. The only way round it would be to remove the rubber 'skirt' on the bottom of the door. This could be a good thing as the skirt thing is making the carpet dirty! BUT it may…

Kitchen cupboards
I have two cupboards in my kitchen which are up against an outside wall. My DH forgot a lip balm in his pocket when he washed his walking trousers. It has now left oily spots on the trousers which washing has been unable to remove. Is there anything we can do to get it out? Don't really want to have to buy new trousers as they are the expensive walking type. Thanks for any advice

Yet another stupid question from CAFC!
Hi All, As the gurus of all things culinary, I have a small challenge! I have "acquired" (dont ask me how!) 3 multipacks of mars bars! Now is there anything I can make with them, maybe a larger cake perhaps, as opposed to just eating mars bars all the live long day! Many thanks xx

Dairy (lactose) Free diet
I seem to have developed a really bad sensitivity to eating dairy - (believe me you don't want details over breakfast). I've tried excluding it from my diet entirely, which is VERY difficult. Not only do I love cheese as an ingredient in cooking, but there is so much whey or milk powders hidden away, even in bread. I have…

Smoking in the house
No, not ciggies! I remember a programme ages ago that showed how to smoke foods in the wok. I think they used dememrara sugar, loose tea and uncooked rice, but can't really remember how they did it - I remember them saying that it could ruin your wok. Anybody know how its done? And also if I were to do food like chicken or…

Alternative uses for cotton buds?
In the hope that OS-ers will be a bit 'crafty' or be good at lateral thinking :) Just cleared out the back of the bathroom cabinet, to find about 6 pots of unopened cotton buds. I know how we have them all - they're the cheapest thing Boots sell online, so I often stick a pot on the order when I'm stockpiling nappies, to…
