Food on the go and how to keep it cool
Morning everyone I've recently started a new job which involves travelling (my first day was yesterday!) and I'm looking for some lunch idea's that I can take with me rather than buying lunch. In some areas, I may not be able to buy lunch and I suffer with low blood sugar so need to eat regularly. I'll be travelling…

Spice mixes
Does anyone else make up their own mixes, rather than buy them as ready made? I tend to make curry spices up. Started off as just for one curry, then OH moaned that he never got the same curry twice. So went on to making a larger batch, but making it into a paste that could be stored in the fridge. The poor man has now…

saving money on lunch
Right, at the moment I don't make any of my lunches for work, and instead either go to Asda or buy it from the sandwich van as it comes round each day. However, I want to start putting some money aside for a holiday or a car, so need to cut some expenses, and this seems like a fairly obvious one! At the same time, I'm…

How long does mayo keep in fridge?
I was in costco a couple of weeks ago and bought two enormous jars of Hellmann's light mayonnaise. I opened one jar and have been keeping it in the fridge but it has gone quite yellow looking and there is some "juice" stuff on the top of it. Should I sling it and how long should it keep for once opened?

Caffeinated Soap
I've seen a few articles on soap making in this forum... but I'm looking to start a little bit further along making a pointless fun soap. I've found pure caffeine powder on ebay, peppermint essential oils and a basic caustic soda receipe for soap. If I make the soap and add the extras at the end of the process will this…

My small person is exceptionally ratty when it's hot at night and despite a fan struggles to get to sleep...then he cries...then he gets even hotter!! So I fill a hot water bottle with cold water [I put it in the…

Washing Baby Clothes, Muslins, bedding etc.
I've had a look through the sticky mega index but can't find any advice on how to wash baby stuff in the machine. 1. Do I need to use a special sensitive powder like Fairy or Ecocover, or will my usual biological do? 2. Do I use less powder for the clothes like I've read you do with nappies? 3. Is a normal softner ok, or…
