making black clothing black again

I have a few tops which aren't as black as they used to be.
can i add anything to the wash to make the colour better??

    Yes, the only way to revive faded black garments is to re-dye them.

    However - and I know this is not the OP's case - for black clothing that just looks a bit dull, when rinsing them do the last rinse in spinach water. You will need to cook the spinach in a bit more water than usual, so that you have enough to rinse the item. I don't know how well it works on very worn clothes, but I tried it with an old-ish black jumper and it seemed to work ok.
