Following on from my succesful carrot cake that I made last week, I've now had a request from my partner for a fruit cake. Has anyone got a recipe for a fruit loaf? Oh Dear - help much appreciated!
my boyfriend has a lovely silk tie, which has sentimental value as it was bought by his parents as a gift to celebrate getting his first graduate job. Yesterday he grabbed a bunch of things from the linen basket, not realising the tie was hidden amongst them, and it has come out of the washer ruined. The foam that makes it…

July Grocery Challenge
Good morning all. :) I just realised that nobody has written about their July grocery challenge yet even though some people will have started theirs already due to the strange way that some pay days work out. Anyway, it's given me the chance to get a word in first (a rare event these days :) ) and add that I'll track back,…

WWII Rations
Just been looking around as I would find it very interesting to see if any of us could actually make World War 2 rations stretch out, with all the temptation of there actually being food in the shops to buy if you see what I mean. Apparently this is what the list was Butter: 50g (2oz) Bacon and ham: 100g (4oz) Margarine:…

Mini compost heap for the single household
I want to start composting stuff but I only produce a small amount of kitchen waste and I don't need a lot of compost, just enough for pot plants really. I've searched through the archives and one poster suggested just using a plastic bag, but this sounds a bit dodgy to me. Does anybody know of a product or method to just…
