Updating Sat Nav
My car has a built in Garmin Nuvi Sat Nav - the car was serviced last week for a fixed price by the main dealers but the Sat Nav was not updated ...(it is "requesting" an update !!) Would you expect a dashboard Sat Nav to be included in the service items or not ?

Just bought a bmw 318
For those interested they can crush my X type as I've just bought a 318 diesel. Cheap runabout so if they take this one I minimise my losses as they want stupid money for tax and to hell if im paying it. £300 as needs couple of tyres and smokes under acceleration. But tyres should last another month or so and if I take it…

Enterprise rent a car blaming me for damage
on 17/08/2016 I was given a courtesy car from Enterprise-rent-a-car by my insurance while my car was in the garage for repair following an accident. The next day, we were at McDonalds and upon getting back to the car I've noticed a small scratch on the rear door handle about 4-5 inches long, and before leaving I rang…

12v Socket Zafira
The front accessory socket on a 2007 Zafira has stopped working. I replaced the 15A fuse ( number 29) which had blown. It still will not work - the replacement fuse has not blown. There is no debris in the socket to prevent a good contact. Any help would be appreciated.

Breakdown cover
My breakdown cover is about to expire along with my current car insurance policy. I was thinking of signing up to AutoAid again (I was with them a couple of years ago but never had to call them out). Are the reviews of AutoAid still positive? I was perhaps thinking of going with GEM, AA or one of the other big boys. But…

Which car would you buy
I'm looking to buy a car that's going to last a few years but I don't know which would be the most reliable out of a 2004 Honda jazz with 67k miles or a 2009 Hyundai i10 with 70k mile.

Big stone chips with dent on bonnet :(
Noticed earlier I have a large stone chip and it's actually left a small dent in my bonnet . Any thoughts on how to repair, I've read that dents can only be removed if the paint isn't damaged . https://www.dropbox.com/s/qwo4hji7dfenu1m/Photo%2003-09-2016%2C%207%2010%2058%20pm.jpg?dl=0…

Selling car but insurance about to run out - SORN, test drives etc
Hi all I'm about to put my car up for sale but my insurance runs out next week and I don't want to renew it because I'm selling the car. I've looked at temporary insurance but it's quite expensive so I'd like to avoid that if possible. From what I gather I'll need to SORN the car and keep it off road before the insurance…

Speed controled traffic lights
I am just back from a weeks holiday in Portugal and saw a speed control measure there that I had not seen before and it got me thinking why not use it here? They have speed cameras set up on all different types of roads from back streets right up to main dual carraigeways that instead of just displaying your speed, they…

Parking etiquette
Hi Just after some advice regarding parking. My sister is renting a mid terraced house. No parking at the front as it's double yellow, parking is at the side (no markings or signs) or the back ( a single dirt track) I've come to visit and there was space for two cars at the side (three cars were already parked up on the…

Airbag recall
If you read the press, you will know that there are 70 million possibly faulty airbag inflators fitted to cars around the world. They use ammonium nitrate as the propellant, (no doubt for extreme cheapness :D ) and become slightly more vigorous over time, to the point where if the airbag deploys the cylinder explodes and…

How many miles should a new car have on the clock

84 yr old wrong way on motorway
I see a 84 year old man decided to drive the wrong way on the M5 in the fast lane heading straight into on coming traffic causing 4 quite serious accidents, Is it not time that all people aged 60 and over should be tested medically etc for fitness to drive including eye sight etc. End of the day he could have killed people…

Bicycle accident
A friend of mine has just been involved in a bike accident. He is in hospital now, dislocated shoulder blade and all cut and bruised. He asked me to ring his employer to inform him he cant work, the employer was very angry saying they were relying on him and asking me how long until he is back. He was on his way to work…

Right to reject a vehicle
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried to reject a second hand vehicle and claim a refund from a used car dealer under the Consumer rights act? We have just sought advice regarding a car that we have purchased and have been advised to request a full refund, so before I start the process, I would be interested to hear…

MOT pass- relief
Just had my (first since ownership) MOT on Wednesday. I thought I may need a new exhaust as it has been blowing and somewhat spoiling my enjoyment of roof down summer motoring as I sounded like a 17 year old in a Vauxhall Corsa with a big bore. I was a bit nervous as I have had a few niggles since buying in March and my…
