poor mpg, should I be worried?
hi, I've had my suzuki swift petrol 1.2L auto for about 8 months and the fuel consumption has been disappointing. On my regular 23 mile commute from the centre of Leeds to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, I get at best 33mpg and this is usually with little traffic and 80% of the journey on the M62. I understand I'll never get…

Are these classed as modifications?
I apologise in advance if this sounds stupid but.... I bought my car from a garage 2.5 years ago. It is a Clio 1.4 16v Dynamique - 2006 reg. I took my car in as the exhaust had dropped. I was told that the exhaust I have didn't come with the car, and is an aftermarket part - firstly do I need to tell my insurers about…

service cost
I had my yearly service done and here is the bill. Is it good? Could I limit myself the costs, but I don't have any space or tools to do it myself.? Maybe somewhere else I can go in 20 miles radius from Basildon. The total cost was £150!

Car finance - how to entice dealers?
Ok so I'm going to pay off the finance of a car immediately after the first payment, so I can keep the deposit contribution and any freebies (servicing etc) The car is about £5k-7k. So when the dealer asks me deposit amount and monthly payments (plus any other questions they ask) what do I say? Low deposit/high deposit?…

National Tyres and Autocare ruined my car
Edited just to say, Long time lurker, first time writer. I don't tend to post to forums unless I have something really useful or important to add. I am still waiting a reply to my complaint to information@national-tyres.co.uk, so in the meantime I would like to share this with any potential customers. My car has been…

To sort without insurance
Hello Yesterday, I managed to scrape my car against another. It was stationary and no one was in it. I told the owner what I had done, left my details and took some photographs of what appears to be a paintwork issue only. I've asked him if we could look at the option of us not going through the insurance because if the…

Opinions on cheap Saab's as runaround?
Been looking for a cheap car to get to/from work and Saabs seem to be cheaper compared to a lot of others. Looking at automatics as that's all I can drive, I've seen a couple of Saabs fairly local in the £1000 ballpark. First one is a 2004 (53 reg) Saab 9-3 2.0 Vector, 100k miles Second one is a 2005 (05) Saab 9-5 2.0…

How long do legal claims take?
I was in an accident in February. The third party insurer finally accepted full liability last week after their client repeatedly refused to co-operate. My dashcam clearly showed what happened. Low speed collision on narrow country road. I was travelling approx 20mph. Oncoming car appeared from round corner travelling…

Wheel fell off car on motorway
Hi all, I bought a 2014 Astra 1.6 Limited Edition 2 months ago. Whilst on the motorway today my tyre blew and then my wheel along with brakes etc decided that it no longer wanted to be attached to the car and completely fell off. I'm not a car expert by any means and I'm not sure what the part name is but one of the metal…

Coolant leak after service/MOT
Hi I'm new to MSE forums so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area. I went to a well known garage chain yesterday and had my car serviced and MOT'd. Drove the car for approximately 70 miles and the coolant light came on. I pulled over no further than 1 mile after the light came on and haven't moved the car…
