The Grand Central Railway Con
For some weeks now the Grand Central website has advertised 20% discount on fares to/from London Kings Cross and stations north of York. It states that no railcard discounts are available with this offer and excludes morning and evening specials. Seniors get 25% discount off fares, so I assumed that I would get a further…

CT/REPL on Tax Disc
Been looking at a potential new (used) car at a local used car dealer today. I noticed on the tax disc it had "CT/REPL" printed on it or something similar, can't quite remember exactly. Also the issue date was in April 2011 but it expires at the end of this month. Does this mean it is a re-issue disc because the last owner…

Do the DVLA make mistakes?
I am having a bit of a nightmare with the DVLA at the moment. I will be the first to admit it wasnt the simplest of tasks but all I wanted was to transfer a cherished plate off my car onto my husbands new car. At the same time, I sold my car and returned the tax disc to the DVLA. They then sent a new tax disc for the car…

Ford Fiesta sites
I've not long bought my mother a N reg Fiesta that has failed its MOT on shocks and 'major corrosion' on the chassis. I own a Disco so the term major corrosion is a tad excessive compared with what I'm used too for the fist sized hole there. Anyway I'm quite spolit for choice with my car with Landy websites that offer…

Hi I wanted to know if the 10 month policy is worth it or not Currently my quote for 10 month is £619.76 with £150 excess And for 12 months is £704.56 with £150 excess. now if I go for the 10 month policy I can save £84.80. But I am unsure as to which policy would be better to go for. Can anyone make any suggestions? Thanks

High mileage motors - just what are the risks ?
Tyres, exhausts, brakes etc. they can all be replaced which means they are not a factor but aside from physical deterioration such as rust, just what are the serious financial risks in buying a high mileage car with FSH ? I "feel" that a bigger engine is safer than a smaller one but is that so ?

My car failed its MOT :-(
I know there's nothing you can do to help me and it's part and parcel of being a carowner but please indulge me in my little woe-is-me moment! I accounted for MOT and service at approx £150 and then incidental costs of approx the same, but it's going to cost more like £500-600 for the lot :( The front coil spring is broken…

Is it worth getting an in-car video camera
Hi, Hoping for some advice. I drive about 100k miles a year, and have had two accidents, both of which clearly weren't my fault but both where the other party tried to contest liability. Both were found in my favour eventually but it's a pain having to fill out twenty forms and spend ages on the phone to get it sorted. I…

Born again bikers.
hello. Its the time of year I look at my group A on my licence and let out a small sigh of nostalgia. I have manged to control myself for the past 20 yrs and not succumbed to a random bike purchase, preffering the dry/music/storage/safety facilities of a car over a bike. Since my last bike Yamaha RD350lc :D the roads have…

Hi Just wanted to ask a question, can I claim back any tax relief on a company car. If so how do I go about doing this. I basically pay for my fuel and only claim back 11-13p which are the mileage rates for the time I have had the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated:D

f.s.h. query
I have had to accompany my daughter to have a look at a motor that she is quite taken with. It's a 51 plate mini one and as a Fabia driver, I must admit that it looks the part. The seller showed me the service record and there were 10 dealer stamps indicating that regular servicing had been performed but I was a little…
