CT/REPL on Tax Disc

Been looking at a potential new (used) car at a local used car dealer today. I noticed on the tax disc it had "CT/REPL" printed on it or something similar, can't quite remember exactly. Also the issue date was in April 2011 but it expires at the end of this month.
Does this mean it is a re-issue disc because the last owner had lost it for example?
I had a quick Google but nothing came up.

Car Tax/Replacement????
I'm guessing a bit here0 -
The previous owner may have had a personalised number plate on it. A new tax disk is issued when the plate is removed.0

Thanks all. So the previous owner must of had a private plate on before selling it to the dealer then.
(Dealer blurb says car purchased direct from customer - not auction purchase).0 -

Strange thing to point out, the opposite is probably the truth.0 -

No, that is no guarantee of the the dealer's veracity in describing the car. It does not mean it must have had come from a private seller. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Not really, if you take into account the various threads and posts on here, advising people not to buy cars from dealers who bought them at auction. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
the disc has that code when when the previous keeper sells the veh and takes his private plate off. CT = Cherished transfer, replacement disc. the dvla have to assign an age related plate.
it has to show the correct expiry date but it also has to show when it was issued. its fine to buy if you've a mind to, but if you havent receievd a v5 after 6 weeks, go to the dvla website and download a V62 form. You wont have to pay the £25 fee if you have the "new keeper supplement" the dealer should give you that when you buy. the v62 will raise a logbook in your name.0 -

The dealer seems to put it on all his cars, either that or main dealer part exchange or along the lines of that. Although I've not seen him advertise any cars with "purchased from auction" on them. I bet he keeps those ones quiet.0 -
in my experiance most dealers buy their stock from auction houses, why wouldnt they? webuyanycar.com are flooding the auction market with half decent and in some cases quality motors, the dealers pick em up for a snip and flog em to joe t public... i wouldnt mind buying a car from an auction, if only i knew enough to know what i was buying...0
