Car Hire Warning
Apologies if this has been posted before: I recently traveled to Exeter Airport and pre-booked car hire through Avis at a quoted price of £68 for two days. When booking in to collect the car I was met with the torrent of extras - "bigger car sir at only £2.00 per day?", "reduce the excess Sir? Only £49.00" etc etc. Once we…

Car written off
Hi all Ten days ago I was in a road traffic accident caused (and admitted) by the other party. No injuries to anyone, which is the main thing, and my insurers were excellent and got a hire car to me within a couple of hours. However the repairer has just let me know that my car will cost about £2000 to repair, and as the…

Which will I lose least on?
I have a 57 plate BMW 325D M Sport coupe, which has done 48,000 miles. There is nothing at all wrong with it, it is a fantastic car other than I have a long drive to work and it really isn't fun in the snow or ice, therefore I am thinking on changing it. It is worth around £16,500 as a trade in. I was thinking of getting a…

Fraud? Used Car Sale Invoice sent to my address
A letter arrived today with the correct address for my flat but with the name of someone I've never heard of. There was no return address on the envelope so (rightly or wrongly) I opened the letter. It was a used car sale invoice which again states the name of this unknown person and my full address. I've lived here for…

Any Central London knowledge? Job interview/test Tufton St 8am (from South Wales)
I have a job interview in a few weeks at 8am at Tufton Street and will be travelling from South Wales (Cardiff). In terms of travel expenses apparently I can claim train fare, or 26 pence per mile which should easily cover my cost of petrol, but not car parking or London Congestion Charge. In terms of overnight stay…

Does anyone have Motor Excess Protection
I`ve just had my renewal through and the excess is higher than I would like, have been getting other quotes but not having a lot of luck. I have read about a Motor Excess Protection policy which reimburses the excess should you be unlucky enough to have to claim. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

Overcharged car leasing?
My daughter leased a new car and when returning it after the leasing term was up she was charged £551.20 for a missing service history and a further £500 for a service to the returned car. I think she has been overcharged but not sure and want to know how to fight this.

02 Renault Clio headlights and backlights stopped working
The headlights (dipped beam) and backlights have stopped working, they won't turn on even though the dashboard light indicated they are on. Front and back sidelights and front full beam work fine, also front and back fog lights work no problem. There is a fusebox on the passenger side which I've checked and the fuses have…

Range Rover - Fault & Warranty Issues
Hi there. Can anyone help. Its complex! We bought a 2nd hand Range Rover from a private dealer in Salisbury back in February this year. The vehicle has since needed a new engine due to internal overheating from what appears to be gasket failure. It had only done 69000 miles and we had only had it 5 months and added 2000…

Should I take extended warranty on used car?
Hi, Looking for advice as usual. I posted a couple of months ago regards repair or replace my 51 Scenic. Iwas given good advice, thanks. But.. P/X against 2 vehicles
Simple question really, but how likely is it that a car dealer will do a P/X on a £2-£2,500 car against 2 smaller cars at a lesser value? My OH needs to sell his car, but it needs some TLC, and will cost him more than he thinks is worth the effort to get ready for a private sale- I also need a car of my own now, so we're…
