Stations between Liverpool and London

Hi all. Am trying to save money by trying various ticketing alternatives between Liverpool and London but don't know the name of the different stations between the 2 points. Thank you for your help.

You don't need to split (unless you are travelling at peak times)

A Super Off Peak Return (OPR) ticket is £24.50 valid on London Midland only. Change at Stafford for the fastest journey time.

From : 0435 LIVERPOOL STNS
To : 1072 LONDON TERMINALS

On weekdays this is valid on any train due to arrive London at or after 1300 (1pm). On the return journey from London the ticket is valid between 1030 and 1629 and also from 1930 (also valid on 1829 to Crewe).

LM trains call at various stations including Runcorn, Crewe, Stafford (change trains), Rugeley TV, Lichfield TV, Tamworth, Atherstone, Nuneaton, Rugby, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Watford Jn, London Euston.

Virgin trains generally only call at Runcorn and Stafford only.

Depart Liverpool 4 mins past the hour, arrive Stafford 9 past the hour. Depart Stafford 21 past the hour. Arrive Euston 2 hours 26 mins later 47 past the hour.

Thanks but how do you get those prices???? mine are closer to £60. Which website did you get them from??

You can buy the ticket on the day at the station. It is a walk-on ticket.

If you want to find it on websites, you may need to click 'show other routes' then 'Valid on London Midland trains only'

One option it won't show for the £24 rtn price is:

Euston 1829
Crewe 2127

Crewe 2131 or 2231
Liverpool 2215 or 2323

The official connection time is 4 mins at Crewe, so it won't suggest that, and it won't suggest waiting for an hour as it sees the 1849 from Euston as a 'better' connection. Problem is the £24 ticket is valid on the 1829 but not the 1849. Also the trains from Crewe-Liverpool are 3 per hour, 2 of which are LM trains throughout the day, but that time they go down to 1 an hour, hence the 1 hour wait if you miss the connection.

The Off Peak Return is £39 and is valid slightly earlier into Euston (you can get the 1249 arrival) and on any train from Euston in the evening peak. All require a change, Stafford is usually the best place, sometimes you need to change at Crewe or Birmingham New St.

I do this journey regularly.

Main stations are: Runcorn, Stafford and Crewe.

Stafford and Runcorn are the main Virgin stations.

Plenty of other stations are served by London Midland (you need to change somewhere)
