The cost of a service

Hi,
I am getting my 52 plate honda civic serviced tomorrow(in preparation for the winter), been given a recommendation from a family member of a local independant mechanic in the southside of Glasgow, he has quoted me around £150 for a full service(plugs, oil, air filter, brake check etc).
I have done a bit of research and the cost of a service obviously depends on a lot of factors, but does this price sound about right?
edit -I should add, its MOT is due in mid december
Thanks

Sounds about right considering it's a full service, yes.0

Came to £143.90 in the end, that was everything, and he said it looked fine. Also said the timing belt is due at 72k miles or 8 years old, car is currently on 63k miles at the moment, so going to put it through the MOT, if it passes, just going to get the timing belt done, quoted me around £150 for the new timing belt.0

When was your battery last replaced? Ask your mechanic if he checked it, properly.
If a battery's going to fail, it'll fail in winter.0 -
Price sounds fair - I paid just over £150 for a full service at a local garage for my Mondy 2.0 TDCi but in future I am going to do most of the servicing myself as I can probably do it for under £50 and an hours work - worth considering even on modern cars you can do most of these things without too much trouble.:A0

My local independent garage in Glasgow charges me £150 for a full service, and they do a fine job. At least £100 cheaper than the main dealer (Vauxhall - Zafira 1.9TD) and they don't try to upsell me needless extras like brake fluid changes. And I trust them....0

Sorry to butt in on the thread, but could you tell me which garage you use, Mickeypops? It's always good to get recommendations for local services. My own local garage has been okay so far, but I've noticed that they don't seem to offer the wide range of services that they used to. My other local garage was very nice, very genuine, but they managed to drop my car off the jacks and broke it!! (They fixed it no problem, but still)
Thanks,

Most garages especially fast fit onces offer a £99 - £150 service. Mostly you get an oil change and
a long list of work they say needs doing.
Parents were going to take their car to kwik fit until i told them they will only get an oil change everything
else on the list was a check only.
Check air filter, brakes, fluid levels. Nothing else would get replaced for that money.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
