£140 for a Corsa service!!
Called up Nationwide Autocentre for a basic annual service for a 2002 Corsa 1.0L and they quoted me £140! Thought that was a bit steep - even Vauxhall themselves can do cheaper. Can anybody recommend a cheaper but reliable 3rd party service? Thanks in advance

Battery? Starter? Alternator? Please help poor student.
My car did not start after being left alone over christmas. I tried to jump it and it took forever to get it going. You could hear it wanted to start but nothing happened for a long time. Then I drove it around the area to charge up the battery. After 10 minutes, the wipers stopped working, and then the car slowly died. I…

The painful cost of commuting, time for tax relief
Hi, I'd like to float an idea I've been thinking over in the hope perhaps Martin or someone else could raise it's profile. I'd like to talk about tax on commuting. I don't mean people who drive their BMW into central London alongside main railway lines I mean the millions of us who commute to work by car because there is…

Liverpool - Manchester train season tickets
I've read some threads on here which say it can be cheaper to buy two separate season tickets rather than one to cover the whole route. Between Manchester & Liverpool there are two different train routes (one via St Helens and the other via Warrington). It is cheaper to buy season tickets as separate legs on the St Helens…

Confused about Oyster
I'm having real trouble understanding the concept of the Oyster card, can someone help me? It sounds as though it only saves you money if you make occasional journeys or only use short term season tickets. I travel to Charing Cross from zone 3 daily, and then take the tube from Embankment to within zone 1. I make very…
