Went to see a mortgage advisor, but still confused?
We’re in Northern Ireland. I’ll try to be succinct. I’ve been thinking about breaking up with my partner (unmarried). We have a house we bought together as joint tenants in Nov 2020, we each paid 50% of the deposit/buying costs - 10k each. We each have 4k cash savings. We still have 95k left on the mortgage. The house was…

Post BOE November rate rise - movement in mainstream mortgage fixed rates
It's early days yet but of the 3 relatively large mainstream lenders that have sent out broker product updates after yesterday's rate rise, they've reduced mortgage costs for some products. This includes rate-reductions, tweaking fees down, introducing/upping cashback, etc. Not huge rate reductions (up to around 0.25-0.3%)…

Overpayment Timing
Hi, My fixed 1.64% mortgage deal expires in May. I always make my 10% over payment at the start of a new year but as I'll be changing to a new deal with a higher rate, would it be more beneficial to make the payment when I'm on the new deal if end up staying with the same lender? I'm already in the 60% LTV bracket so no…

Lifetime Tracker BEBR +0.17%
Our current mortgage is a Lifetime Tracker BEBR +0.17%. We have about £35,000 left on this mortgage and at present, I'm inclined to stay with this rate, rather than move to a fixed rate. I've checked with our current lender, and the best-fixed rates I can get are all over 5%. I'm thinking that even if interest rates go to…

Halifax are saying that they will change my application to 'not proceeding' - what does that mean?
I applied for a Halifax mortgage in August and was approved in early Oct. I have secured a mortgage offer than runs until the end of Feb 2023. I am still mulling over whether I wish to proceed with the mortgage or remain with my current provider so, although I have completed the valuation, submitted the legal docs etc, I…

Mortgage renewal, overpayment advice needed
Hi all, I am no expert in finances and I am just about to enter into a new mortgage renewal. I have a question about overpayments, would it be advisable to dump your savings into the mortgage or part dump, or keep them in savings? I would put in actuals but unsure about anonymity, data security etc plus relevance. However…

Does lender notice to release funds include the completion day?
Just curious, does the typical notice required for a lender to release funds to a solicitor (let’s say 5 working days for example) include the completion day in the notice period? And what about the day the funds are requested, is this also included? E.G. say the COT is received by the lender on Monday, with funds…
