My name is Mark Bougin. I have a purchase of a timber lodge pending. The provider was supplied with all the land registry details before they sent a surveyor. You can live in this lodge 12 months a year however you have to have a second property. The manager at Santander knew these details 4 months ago in advance. The…

Overpaying mortgage
Just a quick question. I'm in a fixed mortgage @2.69% and I'm allowed to pay 10% a year off penalty free. After that its 4% penalty. Say I paid an extra £10k off on top of the penalty free 10% how much would it really cost me? 4% of £10k would be £400 but wouldn't I also be saving paying £269 in interest? Thanks for any…

Property "unmortgageable" due to maintenance
I am currently trying to get on the property ladder and for my first house I've always wanted a doer upper, something I could do a bit of work on and add value to. Also for the area I'm trying to buy in something fully modernised wouldn't really be in my price range. So I found something that wasn't terrible (see pics) but…

Mortgage large deposit first time buyer
Hello, I am looking at a property in the region of £200k. My dad is going to help with a gifted deposit of around £100k. Or would it be easier for mortgage purposes if we just said he owns 50% of the house then I just take out a £100k mortgage? Which would be best way to do this? Many thanks

Nationwide Mortgage Overpayment
Hi All, I have a Nationwide Mortgage, where large over-payments I can choose whether to reduce monthly payments or reduce term but small over payments always just reduce monthly payments. In the past, I have just overpaid when I can, but often lower than the threshold to reduce the term. I am considering overpaying £50 per…

Mortgage overpayment
I recently went into my bank as my 2 year interest rate was going to run out and went to arrange a new rate. At the end of the appointment, it transpired that I had over paid (only by my monthly payments set by the bank by over £12,000).
