When will Nationwide request documents?
What the title says really. We have submitted our mortgage application after getting a DiP but no documents requested yet! Will they do the valuation first? (they have instructed that today) and then deal with documents as they haven't asked for a payslip or anything yet? Thanks for any advice and other stories..... FTB…

Brokers - Worth their weight....
I'm talking about my own experience here but I couldn't have got my mortgage offer without my wonderful broker. Yes, I paid him a fee but he was worth every penny. Always there with a quick response to emails, speedy turnaround service, very efficient and most importantly I got approved! Now, Conveyancers... well that's…

Leave broker to go direct? As they are just down the road.
Hi MSEs, I've recently applied for a mortgage through the recommended MSE broker. I was told after a few days of the application being processed that I would be contacted about what ID they need for the application. I also mentioned the names were wrong on the forms. I didn't hear anything back, so I rang up and my case…

Exchanged without offer, wait or apply now?
I recently exchanged contracts, without a mortgage offer as it's a new build. Exchange was back in February and estimated completion is October 2017, however obviously expected to potentially be delayed... I've got a broker who's recommended Virgin Money as a good lender who can provide a mortgage offer valid for 6 months…

My mortgage interest rate is 1.49% and I'll need a larger deposit for my next one. I've currently got my money invested but I'm phasing it to cash as the purchase is likely to be within the next 6…

Expenses & Mortgage application
Hi, I work permanently but in a consultancy so a lot of travel and expenses. The HMRC 24 month rule starts after we have been at a location for 12 months, so instead of paying out expenses separately we start getting them through our payslip but the taxed is sorted out by our company. Obviously this then inflates my pay…

Bank Statements - what are they looking for?
I know this might sound a bit daft, but what are lenders actually looking for when they have your bank statements? The reason for asking is that my other half and I have applied, through a broker, for a mortgage (with NatWest). It's about 6 months' earlier than I was planning, but with a very generous cash gift from her…

New build HTB Mortgage with Halifax
We have a new build HTB mortgage progressing with Halifax. Finding the process all very nerve-racking, but our broker is very efficient and is smoothing the process well. Paid off debts - won't show on credit file until after mortgage meeting
Hi First post, so please be kind. I paid off a lot of debts on Friday, put my house on the market expecting it to take a couple of months and it sold within 24 hours, I have since gained an AIP with HSBC as I already have a mortgage with them and had an offer accepted on a new house. My fear is that my debt repayments and…

Affordability
Hi there Quick question...if you use an online estate agents and choose to pay later (on completion or in 10 months) which involves credit check would this be seen as a credit commitment and lower affordability? We are very close to limit and wouldn't want to scupper our chances further... Any advice would be greatly…

Can I remortgage?
Hi all, Unfortunately my wife and I have been living beyond our means for some time now and we've both finally had enough and decided to sort ourselves out.
