First time buyer - unemployed with 50% (40k) deposit from matched betting
Hello guys, I thought I'd make a post here as I know there's a wealth of knowledge. My situation is, I don't have a "proper job" I'm pretty much a full time matched better (gambling as far as the banks are concerned, which I have no qualms with) At the moment me and my girlfriend live with my parents, we're looking to get…

Countrywide Surveyors
Hi Just wondering if they talk to Joe Public. Broker has said they will only talk to lender or HA. There is a delay with the HA arranging valuation and neither the HA or broker seem to chase or reply to my emails or calls so thought I could call them direct.

What happens to the deposit on exchange
We all agreed on Monday to go for next Monday for completion, was hoping to exchange ASAP but having spoken to my buyer who's a cash buyer , they have been told to transfer the money for Friday , does the deposit actually get passed up the chain or is it all just a virtual thing that only materialises if someone pulls out ?

Mortgage advisor - help!
Any mortgage advisers able to lend an ear? I'm in the process of getting my credit score at its best - I'm almost there except for a note on my Barclaycard account to suggest that I've got an AP (started in 2008 and finished in 2013 when the card was put back into use). There are however now AP markers at all, no late…

best way to release equity
To keep a long story short I am in the process of getting divorced and as part of that need to come up with about £40K I don't have. My parents are happy to help but aren't sure on the best way to proceed. They are both retired and own their house (a low end valuation, to be on the safe side, would be £300K). I also have…

Have HSBC ERC recently changed?
Hi all, Just been on my online banking and noticed that HSBC seem to have changed their ERC terms. Anyone know anything about this? We are currently in the middle of a 2 year fix but as per the previous rules, started paying the maximum of 10% of the monthly payment allowed. I logged on today to see that we now have a…

Nationwide won't accept my income!!
Hi, I've been trying to remortgage with Nationwide for nearly two months, they lost my paperwork 3 times and have made lots of mistakes. They agreed a remortgage of £150,000 in principle. Then, as I couldn't provide the latest paperwork they took of my child tax credits payments (worth £3,000 per year) and this came down…

Would we be able to rent current property and buy new one?
We have literally just started thinking about renting our current flat out and buying another house to live in. We bought our flat in 2013 and at the time it was valued at £150k. We switched to a new mortgage deal with our lender earlier this year and they valued the property at £167k. I have also seen that in May and July…

Brokers vs. Direct
So. Evening Folks, This has probably covered on this forum a million times...but what are everyone's thoughts and advice on using a broker vs. doing the legwork yourself? Transfer of equity only?
Hi all - I have a buy-to-let property in my sole name and have been advised it would be better tax wise to have the property in both my and my husbands names (for if we decide to sell in the future). I've contacted the mortgage company who have sent a change of ownership/transfer of equity application and the paperwork…
