Excellent news, shiny pack arrives in the mail today, congratulations we have "agreed your mortgage application" and "you should now arrange buildings insurance."
Sounds good so far.
"Next steps" hmm....ok. Feeling of euphoria rapidly subsiding.
"Need evidence from the conveyancer that the appropriate searches have been carried out" and "Need evidence that appropriate life cover is in place to cover the principal of the loan"
:wall:
Could someone please give me a quick explanation of what happens next as I think I might spontaneously combust at the amount of nebulousness (if thats a word) in this process.

I fully understand that lending someone a large sum of money over a long period of time, the checks need done and its also in my interests thayt I dont get sold a pup sitting on an abandoned nuclear waste site that has been primarily constructed from asbestos....
BUT surely there is some resource that fully explains from start to end the process of buying a house. I would like to consider myself fairly intelligent and of comprehensive mind and this is just so frustrating......Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700

Thanks, that has a lot of good stuff in it. I wish these guides had a bit more detail around the conveyancing process, but maybe thats why we have lawyers and banks in the process.
I suppose I need to accept the fact that whilst this is clearly the biggest thing in my life for 8 years since the birth of my youngest, its just a part of the day job for the lawyers and banks........Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700

"The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy"
Sounds like you need to get yourself a Solicitor or Conveyancer.
I'm using Shoosmiths as they have an online portal you can login on and check progress.
Seem pretty good so far...We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.0
