Low Mortgage Offer
I've just been in contact with First Direct about a remortage. My one bedroom flat is worth £72K and I have £59K outstanding over 17 years (NRAM). I earn £36K per year and have no credit cards or loans. I have no children or dependants. I was surprised that the maximum amount they will lend me is £64K. I realise that for a…

Is this strictly legal?
Hi all, new to posting but I'm a daily MSE forum/deal scout :) Basically at the age of 25 and now with 2 kids (renting a 2 bed) it's high time I get a mortgage. My problem is that I currently bought a business in February and became sole director. To make it clear I didn't buy the company, just the business and assets so…

They both bought the house equally and the mortgage was paid off. She wants to buy him out and the house was valued by her mortgage lender at £230k but…

Getting a mortgage after repossession

Defaults will be due to fall off around the end of 2017 so had hoped that I could apply for some kind of mortgage after that but I note…

Time to ditch my fix?
Can anyone help me with some snazzy calculator to work out if I should ditch my fix? Got 18m left on 5 yr fix at 3.59%.....with £2k of ERC. Just seen a 5 yr fix looming that looks of interest, so it would allow me to overpay and knock years of mortgage term... Trying to figure out how to do the math?! Thank you.

Halifax retirement plan (interest only) mortage
My mother recently passed away and while sorting out the money side of things I found out the mortgage taken out in 1986 which I had been told had been paid off was still running. My parents had in fact taken out a Halifax retirement plan mortgage which is an interest only mortgage of just over £8000. At some point they…

Debts relative to income and mortgage application
Hi all, we have just put in an offer on a property after a while out of the market (since 2010) and pre-crisis checks on affordability etc. We are in the fortunate situation of a very good combined salary but the area we are renting in and have settled in (N London) is very expensive. I had assumed that we would be fine…

Hi, Just wondering whether anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with Tesco mortgages at all? Or anything that's hidden etc? I'm looking to remortgage and looking at the Tesco 1.59% fixed over 2 years with the £195 product fee. So cost over the 2 years is totaling £9,795. This also covers basic valuation and legal work.…

re-mortgage my house to buy a delelict house
I want to re-mortgage my house to buy a derelict house at auction. I've read that there are mortgages available to do this that let me stay in my existing house while I make the new house habitable. I then sell my old house and transfer/pay-off the mortgage. Does anyone know of a provider who offers this mortgage?

FTB - Mortgage application just been declined!
FTB and slightly frustrated. My husband has a default that was satisfied in 2010. We weren’t expecting to be considered for a mortgage until 2016 when it is clear from his credit record. However, we spoke to a mortgage advisor and after full disclosure of the default we got AIP with Barclays (Woolwich). We found somewhere…
