Buying first house whilst starting new role
Hiya, I am looking at buying my first house with my partner. She currently works for the NHS but is changing roles within it which is giving her a significant wage rise, which is what we would need to base our mortgage on to get the house we want. She starts this job tomorrow. Will we be able to apply for a mortgage based…

I have seen a house I would like to purchase for £280,000 the estate agent has suggested £265,000 would buy it. I have a 5% deposit and could possibly go up to 10% at a stretch. I earn £60,000 a year and have no other debt's. The problem is I have a default from June 2009 for £1800. This has only just appeared on my credit…

Buy to let mortgage - discharged bankrupt
This might all come to nothing, but I'd like an idea anyway. What are the chances of a discharged bankrupt (of some 11 years) getting a buy-to-let mortgage with a 50% deposit? Edit: Yep - it's come to nothing. Totally unexpected and different scenario now! Thanks anyway.

Should I fix if there's chance I'll go abroad
I currently have a lifetime tracker with HSBC at about 30% LTV. I am very tempted with the security of fixing for 5 years. The amount I pay would be very similar to now. However, there is a 50% chance that within the next 5 years, I need to go abroad for work. :j If that happens, I'd like to rent out my house. If I do…
