It is really too far to commute so we were thinking of selling up and moving across the Pennines t'other side. Let to Buy / Buy to Let question
Which lenders give out a let to buy / buy to let mortgage at the payrate of the mortgage i.e 4% and not a notional rate of 5%/6%? I know it's quite common for lenders to stress test a loan at 125% of the monthly payments of the loan and also at 5% interest. Thanks.

Is L&C truly whole of market?
When I was recommended to use London & Country by a friend and also found it recommended by mse, I was confident that this is be the best option. I used them for my first mortgage and approached them again for my remortgage. This time, reading the accompanying document I was concerned that they may not be truly whole of…

We have lived in our current rented house nearly a year and have spoken with our landlord about the possibility of buying it. They are happy for us to do so when we have our full deposit together. What does "pass credit checks" mean? Does that include underwriting?
Apologies in advance for the noob question - does passing credit checks mean the same thing as the underwriter going through our documents? We're applying with Woolwich and are told the next step will be paying for the valuation. The reason I ask is that we only submitted our documents one day ago so it seems unlikely that…

To fix or not to fix
When I purchased my current property it was a 5yr fix at 4.99%. This was approx 8 years ago. Since the fix ended we have been on BoE rate plus 2%. As I understand it such a rate is not available on newer mortgage products. As the BoE rate has nowhere to go but up I am considering remortgaging to fix again, but am unsure…

Remortaging before six months ownership ?
We bought our flat the end of March. Our fixed rate, which ends on 31 July, was ported across to avoid the c. £5k ERC. We also topped up with additional funding, although the new funding has no tie-in period. What I would like to know is whether we can begin the remortgage process (via a broker) BEFORE we have owned the…

Hi, My sister is in her mid twenties and currently lives at home, she desperately wants to buy her own house and move out. She has seen a modest property that she would like to buy, and knows she can afford. There is a risk that she will not be able to get a reasonable mortgage offer on her earnings alone, and has asked…
